I’m guessing it’s because the grocer would like to know if you’re buying a peach that’s $1/pound or $4/pound

If you want to do the self checkout, how would the register calculate the correct price without the sticker?

If you want to use Sam's Club new scan and go feature, how would the correct item get priced?

You can use 350. It works for everything.

I had the tell a cashier what a green onion was a while back. Internally cracked me up. How do you not know a green onion?

Don't know if it's been mentioned but the numbers can also help the consumer identify what products are organic and which ones aren't.

I just looked at my receipt when I got home and was undercharged by $10 for 3 heads of radicchio the cashier at Food Emporium seemingly punched in as red cabbage.

No stickers.

No. Chives are similar to green onions but the green stems are way thinner.

And people in N.O. often refer to green onions as "shallots" and they are nowhere near what a shallot is in both flavor and price with shallots costing a lot more per lb.

The price does that pretty well.

What I think is cool is that the Indian people put dots on their women’s foreheads so that when they get married the husband scratches it off to see if he gets a motel, convenience store or burger joint…..

I can't speak for all of them but pretty sure the ones directly on the fruit are food safe paper with a wax based adhesive that's technically edible, though perhaps not good eats

And then you still have a sticker on your finger to walk over to the trash and stick it to something to get it off.

When I worked at a grocery store when I was 14-15, I knew almost every common PLU by heart within a month. I rarely had to look anything up in the book. Guess that level of knowledge is just beyond modern cashiers.

My favorite is when some old lady tries to write a check for her groceries and you just see the 20 year old cashier either go full factory reset or have a panic attack.
