I have been to all 50 states.

Idaho, Maine, Nw Arkansas, and Georgia are all near the top IMO.

Delaware is at the bottom.

Oregon would be great if you could remove Portland and Eugene.

I live in Alabama because I was born here. It’s fine, but I don’t think I would move here if I had been raised somewhere else.

I lived a lot of places earlier in life, had been to Alabama a lot, didn't realize it beforehand but it is my favorite now. That is a function of the people I have met here.

Baldwin county is great. I came from DFW so the growth here does not phase me.

Oceanside Oregon would be my dream retirement spot. What’s holding me back though is that starter homes there go for almost $600,000 and the state politics are dominated by the voters living in Portland and Eugene.

I don’t think Louisiana is as bad as some make it, but the state itself is definitely not my favorite.

I live here because I value friends and family more than my local surroundings.

No. I’m only here for the money and to be closer to family. I’ll be leaving as soon as I can.

Then where do you want to go?

No.

I like living around family and my family is retarded. Louisiana is their favorite state.

I’m not who you were asking, but ideally after retirement I will be spending a lot of time in Idaho and Argentina.

We’ll move to Durango most likely. I can do everything I want to do there (snowboard, mountain bike, wakeboard) and it doesn’t get 1000 degrees in the summer and it’s not in the Deep South.

Yes, Texas! Love the southern weather (hate winters), but would never live in shitholes like LA, MS, AL, or AR that caters to a demographic I have no desire to be around.

Best freshwater lakes in the country, year around golf, and best public schools.

Each his own, not judging, but what do you love? The unusually high crime? Worst public school system? Depleted outdoor resources? Corrupt politics? Rap music? Terrible sports franchises?

FWIW please don’t say good people and food. That exists everywhere.

I’ve lived in 7 states and traveled to 48. It’s hard to pick a favorite. Vacation destinations aren’t always the best for year-round living. Family, friends, climate, music, and recreation are important to me so I live in Louisiana half the year and Wisconsin the other half. I’m not sure I’d call those my favorite states. They just have more of what I need overall right now.

Yes we moved to Az last October

Where?
Summer will be a challenge there - not heat but length of heat window.
We were there 35 years and returned to Louisiana during Covid.
While I love my home state here I honestly wish I were in AZ.
