I'm good with Louisiana although it seems we're near the bottom on most of the good lists and at the top of the bad lists.

I've lived temporarily in Hawaii, Texas and have owned property in Alabama but Louisiana is home and always will be. I might add, I've visited all the states.

Hawaii was nice but if supplies were cut off for more than a week, the locals would get pretty weird. After 3 months there, you start fantasizing about driving a hundred miles or more in one direction.

I grew to realize Texas isn't near the conservative bastion that many believe it is. Oddly enough, I thought the people of Staten Island were pretty reasonable people.

No. But would probably be in top 10

Would be incredibly difficult to find a job as good as the one I have now in another place, also my wife has her dream job.

So really doesn't make sense for us to move to my favorite state

I live in East TN so I suppose it is my favorite. I've lived in La, Ms, S. Carolina, Virginia, and CT. They all had their positive attributes, IMO.

East TN as well. It's top 5 maybe top 3 for me. If I have to work to support myself, it's probably 1. If I had enough money to live my lifestyle without working, I would want to be in Utah or Colorado.

It's up in the air. I've loved Virginia for 30 years since leaving BTR. Now that it's been overrun by liberals, I'm having my doubts.

And it doesn't help that I have family I visit in North Carolina (Raleigh and Charlotte) and I can tell you those people there line up with my values much better. I'm a mountain biker / cyclist - it's so impressive to see cities / counties / non-profits work together to build massive green spaces. And they had the vision to start this years ago.

But I have a great stake here with lotsa space, fish ponds, trails, shop. And most of all, memories.

But, while it's my forever home, I'll be on the road most of the time anyway as my retirement plan finally unfolds.

TLDR: NC is cool and ascending, VA not so much.

Im 61 and have lived in Alabama my whole life. I’ve been to and stayed at least one overnight night in 33 states. I’m sure if I visited more of them could find more negative things about Alabama and positives about them. There are some beautiful places with a great way of life all over our country.

Alabama has it all, imo. Nature and scenery that rivals any, a paradise for outdoorsmen, great music and food, college sports, world class industries In aerospace/defense, airplane production, automobiles, education, banking and medicine. It’s misunderstood and overlooked by many. It’s a well-kept secret as far as I’m concerned. It’s my roots, my history, my life, the place where every important thing in my life has happened. I’m sure I’ll be buried here. Sweet Home.

CA gets torn down like no other but ultimately it’s still the best to me. The natural beauty lets me block out the bullsh!t. Plus being around born and bred Californians with deep ties to the state

It’s not every day that you shovel snow. However, snowdrifts eight feet high are a pain in the butt.

I lived in Syracuse, NY for three years. Great Lake effect snow could be everyday.

Montana and Wyoming? Snow, then dig out the day after.

CA and AZ are by far, the most scenic, beautiful states.

I loved Scottsdale, as it was reasonably close to everything.
