I host a lot of my family's get togethers. My house is kind of centrally located in terms of where my family members live, it's fairly large, and the layout of my place is really good for events. If we cook here, my parents handle it. My mom/aunts handle cleanup. My gamgam (95 years young) frequently pays for most of the food.
So I love hosting since I get to enjoy the company of family/friends and don't have to worry about driving after drinking too much. Plus, if need be, I can take no-guilt shits in my master bathroom during the party.

Bunch of boring boomers in this thread.
You know it can be good to socialize with real people instead of just your family and users on a forum?

We do about 3-5 times a year. I hate it each time and dread the prep mostly.
Then during I have a good/great time.
And same next time.

Some people seem to thrive in having people over for parties, holidays, and various events.
All the time. Got 16 coming over today for a crawfish boil. Christmas and Thanksgiving are at my house every year and both sides (mine and hers) come over. It affords me the assurance that I don't have to travel and (2) I know the food's gonna be good.
And I just love the gathering of friends and family.

I ised to when the kids were little, but I guess it’s a different phase of life now.

Don't mind hosting family events but I'm burned out on hosting in general. My husband loves to have parties but I'm the one doing most of the prep work and clean up after. He will also turn them into 50+ people events while I prefer a smaller party. Was fine when the kids were younger but now that we are in our multiple high school sports season of life, I'm wiped.
This is the truth.

We do once a month or so but it's usually pretty small and informal. One family or 2 max comes over, we cook, drink, and let the kids play.
ETA: we also have a pool so it comes with the territory in the summer.

Is it possible for you guys saying things like this in the thread to wrap your head around the fact that not everyone enjoys the same things?
There are plenty of people who prefer to chill alone or with just immediate family.

Our neighbor does.
my wife doesn’t like to host.
Then, “honey, how come the ladies in the neighborhood don’t invite me to stuff” . “Well, baby…”

I love to do it if the alternative is someone else’s house.

This thread has become a pep rally for anti-social people. Being anti-social is fine, but it's not something that I'd necessarily brag about or wear as a badge of honor. Life is too short to be anti-social.

Yes. My house, as my parents before me was/is party central… My kids aged 17-24, my family and friends mostly because I got a golf sim. lol
Only bad part is the wife makes me clean before. That’s really the only thing she ever gets pissed about so I just do it.

I don’t mind. My wife isn’t a fan. So we usually don’t.

Yes. Much rather host people at our house than go somewhere.

Yes, very much.
Weddings, parties, birthdays, football games; all great.
