Yes
Had a kid during my junior year of high school shoot himself.
A kid in my army reserve unit, in my platoon to be more specific committed suicide as well, he was 18-20 years old.
My cousin has attempted on a couple of occasions but he's also a pain pill addict so sometimes I'm not sure if it was a potential overdose with or without the intent of killing himself

there are always two types of people who answer this question.
People with compassion and smart enough to understand they don't understand what they don't understand.
and assholes who accuse the dead of being selfish

Yes. He was 80 and had beginnings of dementia. A very active man who liked his evening cocktails. Called his wife, who had constantly nagged him for over 50 years, into the room and shot himself in the face. So sad .

I don't know if one ever comes to such a peace. Don't pretend to understand the act except to say the darkness of pain, hurt, hopelessness were deep

I know too many people to count. The mother of one of my elementary school classmates kill herself by drinking Drano.
I saw an episode of some news magazine-type show that dealt with young athletes killing themselves simply because they didn't live up their dad's expectations on performance.
Some dads also make competitive sports so miserable for their sons that the boy feels his only way out is to kill himself. So sad...

I had a coworker commit suicide after learning she had a terminal illness.
A guy from my high school took his life during his freshman year of college.
Two very different circumstances.

I've had 4 friends commit suicide and 1 more that tried but failed.
All were drug/alcohol related where their life went into the gutter

When my uncle was a kid he went to live with Shia aunt and uncle because my grandmother was a widow with 7 kids and couldn't care for all of the kids. Over the course of time his aunt had a massive stroke and the uncle had a lot of health problems. He gave up everything to care for them. That was his life. I guess he felt he owed it to them. After they both passed it sent him into deep depression and he put a garden hose in his exhaust and ran it into the car. Neighbors found him dead with the car still running.
Weirdest part was he intently researched how to successfully kill himself. We found books and books on how to commit suicide. Sadly he kept up an appearance like everything was ok. Nobody knew he had gotten to that point.

I knew a young man who I worked under during high school. He was always laughing and joking with his friends. He was about 5 years older than I so I looked up to him at the grocery store that we worked. He married a gorgeous girl and had a damn good investment job several years later. I lost contact with him. several years ago, he killed himself and left two beautiful daugthers and his wife behind. Didn't make sense.
Another older gentleman worked for my aunt and uncle in Houston. this man was in the investment and financial business and was doing very well handling accounts and garnering new business. He was well on his way to becoming very successful in the Houston financial circles. One day...out of nowhere, he shot himself in the head. Quite a shock that no one saw coming.

bullshite! Look at the OP, 17 years later and still cant find peace.
I never said I was not at peace. I also did not intend this to turn into a debate or disagreement about how one should or should not feel about their own unique experience.
Thank you all for sharing. It's a difficult topic.
