Yeah, I'm sure that's a true story.

A guy I went to high school with killed himself a few years ago. He was cheating on his wife, knocked up the girl he was cheating with. Wife was also cheating on him. Also had mounds of debt. Shot himself, leaving his young son. Wife eventually married the guy she was cheating on him with and they just had a kid... That bitch is batshit crazy too...

Although I do have sympathy to an extent, but I also believe those who kill themselves end up in hell. I pray I am wrong.
Do you really believe that or is that something you were taught or your religion tells you and so you feel you have to believe that? Just an honest question because I have no clue if you're religious or that's something you feel. I'm not saying you're wrong for believing that.
My feeling is that if I can be sympathetic and forgiving of people that kill themselves, I feel very confident that a loving and forgiving God could and would also be forgiving. God is much greater than me.

Uncle. Never found him. But he was suffering from cancer, had no insurance, think he just went out to the woods and killed himself as to not be a burden anymore. Plus he had lost so much weight it hurt for him to just sit down. He was really suffering.

Exactly. And many people jump to call someone selfish or a coward for committing suicide when you know nothing of what they have been through. It's pure judgement.

I can't imagine no one knowing AT LEAST one person who's committed suicide.
In my opinion, people who reach that point in their lives are not capable of the level of rational thought many assume they are.

When I was 9 year old. During the summer my dad and I were outside and we heard a BAM noise. We couldn't figure out what it was and he told me it could have been a car backfiring.. When something happens, you expect someone to react right after..Something explodes, people start running, a gunman starts shooting, people start running...
But it was about a minute later when this girl from next door ran out the house over to us screaming hysterically "she is dead! she is dead!". My dad runs over, I followed him. He next door neighbor's daughter was leaning over the arm of a chair, with blood pouring out of her head, gun on the floor. My dad gets me away and gets someone to call 911.
It was the summer after her senior year, her parents were on vacation. Her dad took her to the gun range twice a year, he had his handgun where she could get to it if she ever needed it. Something was going on prior to her shooting herself. Evidently some guy had been calling them, they knew who he was, but he kept telling them he was coming over because he knew they were by themselves and he was going to get to them one way or the other (still don't know the exact situation). She went get the gun and for some reason she turned to the girl and said "watch I am going to shoot myself". Pulled the trigger, nothing.. Again, told her "watch, I wam going to shoot myself". Pulled trigger.. BAM..
She was supposedly completely aware it had so many bullets in the chamber. For some unknown reason she decided to put it against her head and tell the girl "watch I am going to shoot myself".
That's the one up close experience ive had who someone who committed suicide, but I have known others. No one I have been extremely close to, but I knew them or their family
A friend of mine worked at AT&T during college. His manager, who was married, had a few kids, appeared to be the average guy. No one would have ever expected it, but one night he ended up killing himself. He wrote a letter telling his family he had a problem with cocaine, he was causing them financial problems and because he couldn't stop the best thing he could do for them was kill himself.

Not posting this to discuss any particulars, but of my high school class of 122, 5 have committed suicide through the years.
One all state ball player and another was valedictorian. Knew all but one of them very well and still do not have a clue. I moved away so when these things happened (except for the ball player), it had been several years since I had seen them.
Their families were devastated as I am sure you are. Let your faith guide you to steer your thoughts to the good times you had.

Lost my dad almost 15 years ago. Suicide.
Still think about it every now and then, especially having a son of my own now. I was young, and it stung for a while.
It's one of those things that I'm not sure I will ever find true peace with.

It is the most selfish thing a human can do.
What a heartless, blanket statement.
Do you consider a 14yr old girl that kills herself after being mercilessly bullied "selfish"?
I've known three people, including a first cousin and a good friend that suffered badly enough to the point of that being their answer.
I've never for a moment felt somehow wronged by them. To me, that would be selfish.
Most if not all the people with real experience in this thread seem to share the same sentiment.

Euthanasia should be legal. At least it would give their loved ones time to prepare, & in the waiting period maybe the suicidal get blessed with something rejuvenating to take their mind out of the swamp of sadness

Two kind of distant cousins, an uncle in law, and a friend were suicides. Tough to deal with. Had a friend, a cousin in law, and my adult God child who were murdered. These were even harder to deal with.
This all took place inside a span of about 40 years.
Stepping back and looking at these events as objectively as I can, this is really messed up. I think I may have just stuffed it each time and processed it best as I knew how later.

People don't realize there are 2 suicides for every 1 murder. It's a damn epidemic.
As I've said before, ever day has a number. Today was a 4.
I came back from LSU one fine spring day. The family funeral home was a short a person or two and needed a little help. Sure, I said.
Late 50's stiff with a big hole in his head. I grab him by the arms. The other guy got his ankles. We lift him from the gurney to the embalming table.
Until you've moved a few corpses, you've no idea what "dead weight" means.
Anyway, staggering to the embalming table, blood is shloshing out of his head all over my new tennis shoes. That sucked teh big one.
Anyway, I got to wondering what makes a guy hit a 10 on the pull the trigger scale.
Here I was toteing a suicide 10. What pushed him over the edge? Prolly never know.
Anyway, checked into Hatcher dorm with blood stained sheets. Pretty sure they came from some similar Vic.
I don't sleep too well.
But every a day has a number. Today is 5.5

OKB, I really didn't read your initial post. Honestly, I just responded to the question in the title. This might not mean much of anything, but I will say this.
19 years ago I lost my father. It was 7 days before my 20th birthday. I think about him everyday.
I am sorry you lost your father the way you did. Over the years I have come to think about suicide and.. well life in general in a completely different way. I think, when someone commits suicide, it is usually not intended to be a selfish act at all. Some people truly convince themselves their world would be a completely better world without them.To a certain degree, in many cases, mental illness plays a factor.
If you have not found peace, I am truly sorry, but whatever happened, it wasn't your fault. And there is nothing you could have done different, because, if you knew the outcome, you would have done it/never done it in the first place. Sometimes you have to accept life with the simple understanding "its life".
Things happen. Its not perfect. And the best thing you can do is reach out to others who have experienced the same, which you seem to have done in this thread.. But don't allow it to dictate the rest of your life.

Thanks, but I am not angry and don't feel responsible or defined by it. I just wanted to read other people's experiences.
