My first experience with it was in 4th grade when a good friend of my who lived down the street hung himself in his closet.

I was pretty fricked up for a few months after that.

Had a roommate whose dad committed suicide the day before our joint birthday party. We were in the living room when she got the phone call. It was absolutely the worst thing I've ever experienced. The sound she made when she got that call gives me chills to this day

Guess what his wife and 4 kids are having to deal with now?

Ex #2: Guy found out wife was cheating after decades of marriage. Got liquored up. One to the head. In one fell swoop his 3 kids, and grandkids find out mom's a whore, and dad is gone forever

Guess how quickly that family went to shite?

Ex #3: Guy found out his wife was cheating. He went to her work place and killed her. Then he went outside and shot himself. Kids had to be picked up from the nursery by the cops, until family could get to town

Those three guys went scorched Earth.

Yes

If so, have you found peace about it?

To an extent.

Worst part was that I talked to him the night before. Still feel like I should have done more/known what might happen. I told him to call if he ever needed to talk.

My aunt's death was ruled a suicide but my dad and his stepdad were skeptical of the Coushatta PD. She had moved up there but I was unaware of that. Not sure how others felt but it never phased me. I guess that it is that I hardly saw her and she was my godmother. She was 35 and that was in 1984.

Her husband died of a heart attack in '81 and had a young son and young daughter. I can't recall the state of the son as I wasn't with the family during her funeral service but could hear the daughter was crying loudly.

The son was killed in Baghdad in 2005 (IED/small arms fire) left a wife and 3 young children behind. The daughter is thrice divorced, 3 sons that I'm sure two are adults and 1 she probably doesn't have custody. Has been in jail at least twice that I know of and the last mugshot looks like she's been on meth or some other substance.

My father shot himself in 2001. I was 13. Pretty crushing. I've went through every phase, depression, anger, etc.

At this point I'm indifferent

my dad did in June 1998.

I was 17.

that was the hardest year of my life.

My parents had been divorced about 6 months when it happened.

I was pissed off most of the time.

Sports were a huge outlet for me.

I played Football and Baseball in high school and I think that maybe if I hadn't things could have way worse for me back then.

on the bright side, a lot of people seemed to go out of their way to be nice to me when school started back. But that wasn't always easy either cause being reminded of it daily by others when you've played it over and over in your own mind was tough.

Yep one of my closest friends did when she was 13.
Real badly abused by family only outlet was coming over my house and spending time with me and my family.
Finally she just couldnt deal with it even though I begged her to just stay with us she always said it wasnt my job to fix her life for her. Woke up one morning feeling like something bad had happened.
Found out she had asked her father and mother to sit down and have a talk with her. They apparently ignored her later that night she blew her head off. She left me a voice mail and a written letter. I cherish both to this day. The voice mail I have on a flash drive these days. Whenever I feel depressed I will listen to her last words. And think to myself what happens when we let a single moment slip by us.
Thats why I tall anybody and everyone Never be scared to do something. Never let anything go by you. Never hesitate in life.

I personally have thought about Suicide.
Ive have a really bad life. Especially in my early years.
But I would always think to myself why give the people that have hurt me the Satisfaction of Winning.
Live my Life and Prosper. While they deal with their sins.
I do not fault people that do do it though.
If youve never been in a situation that pushes you to that point then you shouldnt talk shite about it.
Depression is a terrible terrible problem. Especially for younger people.

One of my students committed suicide. This Wednesday will make two weeks since it happened. He had so much going for him-multiple scholarships, academic and athletic. I am still in shock from the ordeal. You would have never suspected that anything was wrong with him. The empty seat in my classroom is a terrible reminder that he's gone.

Two guys I served with have killed themselves recently. The most recent is my buddy jumped off a bridge and left his wife and two kids behind. I honestly don't know how you can make that leap with a family that loves you. I've thought about suicide at times myself but I agree it's very selfish.the best advise I was ever given was don't be a pussy. All the shite we have been through and you can't make it one day? Just say that every morning and make that day.

Our stories are similar. My parents divorced when I was 16. Two years later, he shot himself. He was taken by helicopter to the hospital but there was nothing they could do. It was a horrible experience. I will always be grateful our cousins who cleaned up all the blood in his bedroom so that we wouldn't have to.

They kept him on life support for about 36 hours so that all his organs could donated, even his corneas.

Several months later we received a thank you letter from LOPA that described how his organs helped other people. It brings me comfort knowing parts of him are stil living and helping others.

He was a wonderful man. I usually only remember the good things.

Yeah. Wasn't even 30 years old. He posted here sometimes.

IMO suicide is like an exit to a burning building. I'm not going to judge someone for doing it, but it's incredibly hard on the family and friends.

It's actually the second leading cause of death for young men.

the divorce wasn't so bad to be honest. I mean everyone in my family saw it coming.

you hate to say it.. but it was a relief when it happened. I doubt anybody thought it would effect my Dad the way it did but he hardly ever showed emotion so you didn't really know what he was thinking. His drinking was his way of dealing with things. He was a functional alcoholic.. a real conflicted person. He'd help you one day and be real friendly then maybe not speak to you for another 2-3 days after that.

But I think the main lesson I got from that is.. don't get caught up worrying about what other people think. Self motivation is what you need to stick with in life. I pushed myself cause I had no choice in my mind. My Brother, Sister, and I all look out for each other but I think we all had/have the same drive to not make the same mistakes our parents did.

That's awesome.

I can't say the same ( I mean about the good/bad memories) but I think if you look closely enough at the bad times you can learn from it and use it to your advantage some how. Basically.. don't get caught up feeling sorry for yourself.

2 family members

1 parent of a close friend

1 parent of a classmate

1 person I went to high school with

1 parent of a close cousin's wife

quote:

only 1 still haunts me to this day. 1st cousin. one of my best friends. He was 15 I was 14. Hardly a day goes by now at age 32 that I don't think of him.

One way that it affected me is that "normal" deaths don't bother me anymore. It is actually kinda nice when someone dies when they "should" at an older age.

Well yes and no. If I were to commit suicide I'd be doing my wife and daughter a huge favor.

My daughter would soon forget me and my wife would find another lover.

It's a win/win.

Dude if you are even a little bit not trolling you need to see a therapist.
