My friend sister (no pics) used to date a guy who was connected to the mob in New Orleans and Detroit. He was Eastern European so he wasn’t “made” but had strong connections. He was pretty cool to hang out with but you certainly didn’t want to frick with him.

I went to HS out of state.
In a metro area with large mafia presence.

A HS teammates(local mafia family last name) dad was associated. I'm not sure if he was a formal member, but he was associated at the least.

Taco Tico in Metairie was owned by the mafia? The only thing that place had going for it was the chaco-taco. Stayed open way longer than you would expect for the number of customers that it had.

Shut your whore mouth! Taco Tico was the bomb. I don't know anything about its "mafia connections" one way or the other, I'm just saying.

Knew an Italian family in Shreveport back in the late 90s that seemed connected. Always around the horse track.

I know a guy in Lafayette who comes to mind every time I watch a Mafia show on YouTube. He just doesn't have the gun.

Back when I was a cable installer, I was on the account at Emory hospital. It's where rich people would go for heart surgery, oil sheiks from the mideast, David Letterman, etc.

I got a work order one day for trouble on the phone line at the Emory hotel..

I show up and knock on the hotel room door and this blonde bombshell opens the door with all the typical trashy accoutrements (loud dress, jewelry, nails, etc). Very stereotype.

She's irritated, why am I there, I show her the work order, she says she didn't call in anything, asks who called it in, I say the requester on the work order was Mr. [Whatever, I don't remember] and she says "Well that's not my name, My name is Gotti" and them slammed the door in my face.

I wrote it up in the van and turned it in later, billed a half hour for it.

My grandfather came to the US from Sicily in the 20s. My dad didn't like to talk about his father's nefarious activities, but I heard stories from his siblings. I randomly googled his name, and it brought up a New Jersey supreme court case. Apparently he had a soda shop that was involved in illegal lotteries and bookmaking. He plead guilty and was sentenced to a couple years in prison. I don't know if that technically means he was in the mafia, but it's some gangster shite.

Pretty much this.

Theres like 2, maybe 3 people, on here that over the years have shown to have actual connections to the mob.

The life for 95% of mobsters is mostly shite and nothing to boast about

A large portion of the organized crime we now see in the U.S. is from the Russian Mafia and other Eastern Bloc countries.

This is probably accurate. I heard that almost every person in Baton Rouge with Russian or Slav background is affiliated with each other in the same organization. I know it’s probably BS but I also don’t know a lot of people here with said background so it could be true.
