No. There is absolutely nothing to be gained and a whole lot to lose by having a “work wife.”

I think it depends on what your definition of a "work wife" is.

If it's someone you're flirting with and actively pursuing, then that doesn't sound like a great idea.

If it's someone you can confide in when crap hits the fan at the office and who is someone who just helps the day go by a little quicker, then there's nothing wrong with that.

I have the second one and it's great. I'd never call her a work wife though.

I have one of these. We have been working together so long when it's time to order lunch from whatever place she knows what i want. It's great. But she is a decade older so she may be a work mom instead.

Yeah I have the second, as well, and wouldn't call her a work wife either, probably a work "friend." But I'm guessing that's what some people mean when they say "work wife."

But I feel like everyone needs at least one person in their workplace that they don't have to just spew corporate lingo too and can keep it "real" with. Because I know when I try to talk to family and friends about my work life, while thy always mean well, it's hard to convey the intricacies of my job and why something that seems unimportant to others might bother me.

I do. She and I have worked together a very long time. We're just really great friends. She has a dudes sense of humor, loves sports, etc. Just a great person and a fantastic assistant that takes care of everything for me We don't talk or text outside the office.

No but I have a work side piece. As in she makes me do extra work when I’m away from my normal work.

I have a wife. That’s enough for me. If anyone ever referred to me as their work husband, I would draw a hard line against it very quickly.

My wife occupies a unique, important and singular position in my life.

I think that’s true (or should be) of all spouses, so I find the term “work wife” or “work husband” to be a little disrespectful to one’s spouse.

So, no, I do not and never will have a “work wife”.

Completely platonic

Using that term for it automatically negates it as platonic. She was definitely wanting more.
