No I don’t get too close with the women at work. Don’t want a sexual harassment complaint

So with your "work wife"...does she "work nag" you?

Do you have a "work fight" and then have to "work make up" with "work sex" where you give her a "work orgasm"?

I’ve never even heard of this term.

No. There is absolutely nothing to be gained and a whole lot to lose by having a “work wife.”

nah, because right after her last "work period" she began to "work menopause," "work sex" hasn't been the same since

I did. Old job I worked at was mostly bitchy, lazy women and I hit it off with one. She was a sports fan and we hit it off that way.

Eventually she'd bring me breakfast in the morning and we'd have lunch together. She used the term work wife. I just went along with it.

Never went anywhere pass that. She made working at a shitty job tolerable.

Then she up a died on me, and I switched organizations. I'll never get that close to someone at work again.

My secretary of 20 years calls herself my "work wife." She manages nearly all my appointments, personal and professional. She makes sure I have bought an anniversary gift for my wife each year. Covers for me when I am out of the office for personal reasons. Harasses me when I need a haircut. Been married to my actual wife for over 30 years.

No.

Scruffy goes to work to work.

When his shift is over, he goes home to his actual wife.

I don't even have work "friends", sure I try to relate to some people I work with on a personal level, but I can count on one hand how many times I've hung out with a co-worker outside of work for a non-work related activity (obviously not counting going to lunch).

Had a former boss who referred to me that way in front of coworkers. It made me despise her. The term sounds like a back-up plan if your actual spouse does not work out. Being committed means there is no back-up plan.

The last thing I wanted was coworkers to think there was anything more than simply a necessary professional relationship.

My interest was developing my reputation as a good decision maker who treats everyone fairly and equally (for promotional reasons), and has my shite together at home so that it doesn’t affect decisions at work. It still worked out for me, but she became nasty to me after I left the organization.

Relationships with women in the workplace where one wants it to be more than just professional is a precarious minefield. Avoid it. Get out of it.

That’s what I was thinking, I go there to do a job, I don’t go to said job to “make friends” or have a “work wife” I go do the job because they pay me good money, then home to my wife.
