No shite? Never thought to use them that way. From what I've read, that's a lagniappe use as they weren't designed for that purpose originally, but still a good tip.

Pointed hammer nearly a pick. Controls the shatter or concentrates it. And pointed for focused impact if water has gotten to both sides of the glass.

You can’t. The weight of that water on one side would make it solid like cement. Water gets to both sides of glass you’d have better luck trying to grow gills.

I've always thought that and never was overly concerned about being trapped in a sinking car until I saw a YouTube video of a bunch of trained divers escaping a sinking car.
I was raised around water, consider myself a great swimmer and someone who never panicks in the water, and that video freaking terrified me. I was stunned how quickly the whole event happened. It was crazy.
Just saying, I got one shortly thereafter.

(I too hate to wear ear protection, just the physics behind firing a gun in a closed space, especially large caliber can cause damage)

I have a solid pocket knife. I think I’d be able to break the glass with it and also cut off my seat belt.

Take a piece of ceramic and softly throw it at glass. I read it here years ago and thought"no way" I tossed a piece of ceramic at an old window I was changing out and it shattered instantly.
I don't know if it works on old cars. My project car is a black widow car. Three bullet holes two in windows one through door. On the old glass the bullet just left a hole. Didn't try ceramic yet. But will see what out does when I get new glass.
