Do you have a life hammer (or similar device) in your vehicle?

Been thinking about buying one. I recently had a nightmare about being trapped in a sinking vehicle and this seems like a pretty easy $15 to spend for peace of mind.

Nope. But I have a .357 and a pocket knife in the console.

Figured if I can't get out of a sinking car with those I don't deserve to live.

My dad got one for me years ago. The odds of ever needing it are slim, but it gave him peace of mind, so I keep it.

Have you ever fired a gun in a small sealed space with no ear protection?

I'd rather have a $10 safety tool, than go deaf because I thought I was macho.

I must have offended thirteen idiotic deaf people.

Roll your windows down before your vehicle is under water or just wait for it to fill up and then open the door.

I don’t. My Mom did though when she lived in Grand Isle. I always told her that she would not be able to find itt.( due to crash). She had her own version. One of Dad,s ball peen hammers and a filet knife. She was a white knuckle driver and never went in the bayou or wrecked

I do not. Can’t see a reason not to though.

Fortunately though power windows will work for a while after you hit the water. If you get to a point of needing that hammer you’ve still got to CALMLY wait for a car to fill and equalize. Not try to swim against a window that’s filling.

Best bet is trying to immediately open doors and or windows. Doors are probably gonna be impossible. Unless you know what’s up and hit the water reaching for the handle.

This. Plus a sealed space surrounded by water. The blast then pressure change would probably blow an eardrum.

If you pull off your headrest, it is equipped with 2 life hammers on the end. They are pointed for a reason.

Had a friend I trained with that was a bodyguard. The guy was massive. He chose to keep mace in his car as opposed to a firearm for 2 reasons: one was the legalities if he had to use it and the other was the sound in a confined space

Yes. I shoot a .308 in a 4x4 deer stand 3 or 4 times a year with no ear protection for the past 20-30 or so years. My ears are fine.

But I see your point
