I have a Gerber one. It also has a seatbelt cutter should the need arise.

You ever go through HUET or BOSIET to work in the GOM? Its where they dunk a simulation of a helicopter under ater and you have to pop the door or window to get out.
If you dont wait for that thing to fill up, you not popping the windows out or opening the door. Those divers were amateurs and dont know shite. Watch Mythbusters, it works

Never tried popping the window early because the trainers have to tap your knee before you can pop and go. Not to mention it isn't the same since the back and floor are not enclosed.

For those who have one....where do you keep it. Is it very handy.
I could see in the aftermath of a crash with airbags deployed and you end up in the water....people being shook up after the crash, panicking, or due to the adrenaline dump forgetting they even have it, where it is, or struggling to get it with the deployed airbags in the way.

You are lucky, my dad had a 90% hearing loss in one ear due to a guy firing a shotgun with the muzzle inside the duck blind when he was about 40 years old.

This damage may be temporary or, if intense enough, can be permanent. It is also possible for the eardrum to rupture from this impulse noise. There has been a number of police officers who have had to shoot through their windshields in self defense and I haven't heard of any of them sustaining damage to their hearing.
Curious...how far was the muzzle from your dad's ear?
