Do you have a housekeeper, lawn guy, etc.?

I'm more of a DIY person myself so I've never had the mindset that the money I pay someone else to do things like clean my own house and cut my own yard is worth it. I bought a $3,000 mower two years ago and considering it would cost minimum $80 to cut my lawn (1 acre), the mower has more than paid for itself already. And cleaning my own house -- that's something that doesn't take long at all. I have kids so I know how fast a house with kids gets messy but if you raise your kids to clean up after themselves each day and you yourself practice what you preach, a somewhat already clean house doesn't take long at all to clean each day.
I could never pay someone to do these routine tasks but that's just me. I know others make more money than I do and would rather pay someone else to do those things in order to have more time for other things.
What's some things that the OT pays other people to do for them? And how much does it cost you?

I have both. Cutting my yard screws with my allergies real bad, so the $30 I pay my neighbor to do it is well worth not being miserable 8 months a year. We also pay a housecleaner $85 to come once a month. Also well worth it to not have to do all that stuff. My time is worth more to me than the cost of them doing that stuff.

No. But my mom sends her "muchacha" over every qtr to do a deep clean.
Otherwise I keep my own place mostly.

Had a lawn service this year because of some health issues and it was a life saver. For $30 a cut it is almost hard not continuing to use it.

Maid comes once a month for $110.
Yard guy comes once a week in the summer and every other week in the winter for $40\trip

I work six months out of the year in Africa. I have a chef, maid, laundry guy, lawn guy, pool guy and driver.

I've had lawn guys in the past, but not now.
At the time, my free time (basically weekends) was at a premium - worth far more to me than what we were paying for the service.

The same guy has done my pool and lawn for 10 years now

Grad school and a full time job keep me pretty busy so I use my neighbor's lawn guy during semesters. When school isn't in I do it myself. No maid at present, but we're considering hiring someone to deep clean every 3 months or so. We keep our home pretty clean

I’m not going to pay someone to do something I can do.

Do it. it's about right amount of time if you are able to keep the basics done. Prevents certain build ups, but make it targeted things too.

I mowed my 6 acres myself for ten years
This year I sold my mower and hired somebody
best decision ever
he makes it look like a country club and I don’t have to waste my weekend

My maid comes once every two weeks, and I would cut down on a whole host of spending before letting her go.
Study after study has shown that paying for someone to do a service that you would otherwise have to do yourself is, dollar for dollar, one of the best investments you can make for your quality of life.
And the mantra in this thread that people won’t pay someone to do something they could do themselves is absurd. We pay people every day to do things we could do ourselves. Do you never eat out?

You don't eat a restaurants, file your own taxes, and don't go to the dentist either?

So in other words, you don't like hanging out with your kids and would rather drive around on your mower drinking beer? Trashy man....trashy.

I do my own yard work and handyman stuff around the house. Have a cleaner come once a month for $80 for baseboards, dusting, mopping, etc.

This is kind of a weird one.

I have a 2 acre yard and it cost me $100/cut X 4 per month in growing season. It used to take me about 3.5 to 4 hours to cut, weedeat, blow and that's not even fooling with the flower beds and trimming. I'd rather pay someone else to do it while I am working full time and I can golf, fish, hunt on weekends. Maybe when I ever retire, I might want to do it, but not now.
My wife has a Latina that comes in once a week and she is about $90.00. She and another lady stay for 4 hours. They mop, change linens, vacuum, dust, clean windows, toilets, empty trash and lot's of other stuff.

jk, I do all my own stuff as well.
I cut grass and when I'm finished, I stop the blade and let my kid hop on my lap to ride around on the mower together. He freaking loves that. Creates memories with him.

We have a housekeeper, but I love doing my yard (the weekly maintenance), but we do have a landscaper for bigger projects.
We're also doing a Christmas light service this year for the first time - I don't have the time and want (thanks, Les) to do that myself.
