I did this a couple of years ago. After about 8 months I did a final tally thinking I'd be down a reasonable amount.
I don't go to the casino much anymore.

Poker Agent app is worth every penny.
I played before smartphones. The website I used was pretty solid and only $19.99 per year though.

No, because I don’t hang out in casinos.

All of my online bookies allow you to check the profit and loss for the last 12 months, always a fun thing to check on Jan 1st
As for casinos I’ve only been 4 times and am $350 up but all of that was in one trip

Do you guys keep track of your gambling wins and losses?
Of course. How else would you be able to report your winnings on your tax return?
I actually got a statement from my online horse betting account showing my yearly win and loss totals. The losses are deductible to the extent of the wins. I lost more than I won, so no tax effect.

I had several notebooks full of hands and running balances once upon a time. Thank God for the app now.

Won 3 grand on craps in September. Have not been back.
You should have thought that over a bit more. It’s reportable income. You could have written off your losses up to $3k if you had lost on subsequent trips.

Losses? This is the OT. Nobody here every loses.

Funny you ask. I'm at the casino and amazingly up like wedgie on a fat kid at camp, so I decide to retire to my room and take a break. Through the wall, I can hear the old couple next door having sex. They sound like two grizzly bears fighting over a salmon.
I have a lot of information about casinos, probably too much dope about casinos. Like why is it when someone starts hitting multiple times and winning big on a machine that employee with the big screw driver shows up and asks to look inside the machine? A twist of the screwdriver over here, a turn there -- and whalla, presto: fun over! No more jackpots for that slot machine for a looong time.
My question is why doesn’t that same guy show up when I’m playing? Why doesn’t he waltz up and stop me abruptly to say, “Um, sir we’ve noticed you’re losing your arse here, I’m going to have to ask you to step aside so I can open the machine and adjust a few things?”
People like to call a slot machine, “their machine” when they talk to one another at casinos. If you listen to people conversing, they usually say, they’re going to go here, or there, but they always announce they will wind up at “their machine”. That’s when you know the casino has them.
Just wait until the guy with the screw driver shows up when you’re over here or there. Then, when you come back, you’ll wish it wasn’t "your machine".
And you just know you're going to be asked several times by total strangers how you are doing. Like we’re going to tell them the truth, or even if we do somehow have the upper hand, tell them exactly where and how to win enough money to retire from life.
This is where I usually reply, “I don’t like to brag, but they’re going to put my picture up (dramatic pause) in the buffet.” That one is a winner every time. I guess it's because I have the belly to prove it.
It doesn’t matter how much knowledge or expertise you bring into a casino, you can always bet that one clown next to you, who doesn’t have a clue of what is going on, ends up winning big. It’s usually after you tell them to put that extra coin in before each spin to actually qualify for the jackpot on the slot machine they are playing incorrectly, or after you instruct them on how many cards they should be holding in video poker.
Talk about gambling problems. Next thing you know, they’re wondering why the machine is flashing and making so much noise. Then, you have to watch them smile ear to ear when someone tells them they are now rich. This continues as they sit and wait for a hand job from the casino staff in the form of a hand pay jackpot.
Always leaves me wondering if this is just a big joke, you know, one of those reality show ruses. I begin to wonder where all the hidden cameras are with film crews laughing their asses off at me. Oh yeah, they’re in the roof right above my head.
It's no better at an Indian casino. Hard to even get a room. You know, cause they hate reservations.
