You should feel more embarrassed and ashamed for receiving communion when you are not in a state worthy to receive it.

Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 1415:
quote:

1415 Anyone who desires to receive Christ in Eucharistic communion must be in the state of grace. Anyone aware of having sinned mortally must not receive communion without having received absolution in the sacrament of penance.

We all do. But that isn’t the Gospel.

Eta: now we are downvoting essential tenets of Christianity? Whether you’re a believer, a nonbeliever, a Romanist or a Christian, what is said above is not disputable.

If the “good news” is we need to try harder and do better, then I don’t want to know what the BAD news is!

I’m racking up downvoters, but so far no one who can refute my statement.

At all the churches I grew up in and still attend, the table is open to everyone, just as Jesus would have done it.
The difference is Catholics acknowledge the Holy Eucharist as the real presence of Christ - his body, blood, soul, and divinity in the presence of bread and wine.

Those "other churches" see it as a symbol. That is why the sacrament is reserved for Catholics who are in communion with the Church.

I avoid Homosexuals and the Homosexual agenda so no I don't receive communion from a degenerate Homosexual Priest.

If y’all were married in the Catholic Church the above is incorrect.

If yall were married outside the Catholic Church all yall need to do is have it blessed.

Was she divorced from another marriage prior to you marrying her?

You know you can walk right down the street to your nearest Catholic Church and ask to have your marriage blessed...you don't have to go back to Mexico

I'm Baptist and my wife is Catholic, so when I go to her mass and she takes communion and I just wait I do feel uncomfortable, but I wouldn't call it embarrassed or ashamed.

You can always walk up with her, cross your arms, and receive a blessing.

This is the only reason my ex father in law wouldn't divorce his wife. He was too worried about being able to receive communion.

Why was he unable to have the marriage annulled?

I believe this. I’m not a pagan cultist, or an idiot though, so I don’t believe you could do lab tests on the elements (before or after the priest casts his spell on them) and see Christ’s DNA.

I'm Catholic but truth be told if this were really true and we are really receiving Jesus here, there would be about 0.04% of people on the face of the earth that would literally meet this criteria to receive Him even with reconciliation. Then there is the subset of people that talk about chewing the Eucharist vs. letting it melt and the eternal damnation of those that bite the Lord. At some point it gets a little superstitiousy for me when it gets that anal.

If you aren't going because of sin, go to confession and get absolved.

If it's some sort of church bureaucracy (you married a non-Catholic, got divorced because your spouse turned out to be a cheating whore, etc.), screw them. That's between you and God, go up and receive your Communion.
