Money to me don't mean shite. To me at this point it's all about less stress. If you are the guy who makes $175,000 a year with three kids going to park view and your wife is driving an $80,000 suv( doesn't work) and you have a $500,000 house in a good neighborhood you can have that shite. Having money can mean a lot of different things to a lot of folks.

Bingo.

This is the situation I could be headed to and am stressed thinking about it. I need a bigger house and I want the best for my family but with it comes headaches. I don't prefer our living situation now, but i want to vomit when thinking of additional cost of a bigger house. I want the best education I can provide for my children but with it comes with a sacrifice. The simple life was a lot easier but I love my family. Being the breadwinner is rough but one day I will see a reflection of all that work and sacrifice.

Not just because I have more or less money. Maximizing the amount of money isn't the only goal. There are people who knowingly and competently take paths that acquire less money because they have different priorities. As long as they competently perform on that path they have my respect.

I do think I am better than people who lack money or find themselves in a bad position because of their own incompetence and inability to manage their lives. These people often refuse to recognize their own role in where they are in life or their own problems.

There is also a certain amount of luck that comes with success. It's more of a grey area. Many successful people tend to ignore it. The whole born on 3rd and acting like you hit a triple mentality. And unsuccessful people tend to attribute too much to it.

I can't help how I truly actully feel. Folks should be happy I'm being honest. (Trust me, a lot more upperclass people besides myself feel the same way but would never admit it.)

Awww, that's cute, you think you're upper class.

I've always had a huge entrepreneurial spirit and in just three and a half years I make more money than I ever thought possible. The coolest part about having money for me outside of the comforts and not worrying about paying bills as been my ability to change people's lives.

Back to the original post and question--I feel better because I have money and I have the opportunity to do great things with it, not because I have more than someone else.

I feel good about the fact that the revenue I generate supports several families. However, it doesn't make me feel above or better than anyone else.

I don't understand why some people legitimately shite on accomplishments by claiming "luck."

Sure, being born in the USA has advantages over being born in Liberia, but most working people who are successful generally are responsible for their own well being.

There is some luck involved in the corporate world. You have to be at the right company, have the right amount of experience at the right time, make the right relationships and have the right position open up to move up. Some positions may not be open for a long time, especially the higher ones. You have to be qualified at that exact moment or you miss the boat

True, but not everyone makes their way in the corporate world.

Of course, for true entrepreneurs I don't feel like much luck is involved

To a great extent, yes. More importantly you can only control what you can control, so it is all that you should worry about, especially in making decisions. Similar idea to sunk costs. But to pretend that luck isn't a factor and in certain ways a huge factor in an innumerable number of ways is dishonest and for many people simply an excuse to look down on the less fortunate and to minimize their own gifts.

It's more than just being born in the United States. There are things that could have happened to you that are both completely out of your control and would have made it completely impossible to attain a certain level of success. Don't look at it as an accusation that you should feel guilty for it like so many are wont to do. Look at it as reason for humility and gratitude.

Shoot... This is sorta tough to bring up because it makes me feel as if I'm bragging or something. I'm a humble dude but I can't help facts that go on in my mind. Yeah, I do. And I know it's not a good thing because I don't like it.

I'm single, no kids, 30ish, and have very low debt. I go to lots of football games, take several vacations a year whenever I want, and just played in my 7th 4-ball of the season. No serious GF but a few on the roster that are somewhat ok with me being noncommittal.

IDGAF what men will admit or not, I am very confident that there are a lot of people around me that envy my situation. And i'm not rich, I just don't have to pay for anyone but myself.

Isn't there another pharmacist guy on here who's also kind of an a-hole about bragging about wealth/status?

Is that the new doucher career?

yes. I make in the top 2% of the population, and our wealth is top 5% (and we are only 42). I am on track to retire in 2-3 years at around 45. Damn right I think I am better than most people.
