I have a 36 gallon tank so I will not pay airport premium when I am putting on probably 35 gallons.
Sometimes I'd just put 100 in in my Excursion, it had a 44 gallon tank.

All the time. I usually get gas at whatever is closest when I get horizontal on E...but the places I stop are not always the cheapest option. Therefore I just put in $20 or whatever to get me to the next destination where I then fill up at the best price. Capitalism

what are skimmers?
Credit card readers that fraudsters put inside gas machines. That's why those stickers that say "if seal is broken, immediately notify attendant" are on the outside of the machine

I have to visit a customer every Monday morning right by a sams, so I fill up every Monday regardless of how much is in the tank. On the rare occasion I run low before then I will throw in enough to get me to Monday

$20.
I get pretty close full.

I've done it in sketchy parts of town. Get enough to get to another gas station in the not sketchy part of town.

I never fill up past half tank. Lighter means faster or better mpg.

Only for my boat

It all depends on pump speed. If it’s slow as hell, yes I’ll fill just enough to get me to the next pump/through the day

Not often, but when I need gas and am not at my points redemption location, yes.

If it's a diesel and you use the pumps for big rigs, yeah. Every normal pump I've ever been to cuts you off at $99 or below. Some places in TX stop you at $75

That doesn’t happen with these.

Once a year if in a hurry.

Is it really that fricking hard for you to understand that some people only have 20 worth of gas money?
There seems to be a large number of people on this site who don't understand how the world operates.

Yeah, I did it a lot in college. Not because I wanted to but rather I only had $4.12 in my cupholder and needed to go places.

Being in a big hurry not included in the equation. Do you ever get $20 instead of filling the tank up? Not me. I don’t understand the philosophy
When you live in a city with some of the highest gas taxes in the country, yes, it is not uncommon to partially fill your tank so you have time to get out of the city or state to fill it all the way up.

Better question is who rounds it off to an even number?
I do that which is supposed to be bad. I can't stand uneven numbers. I'd rather leave money on the table than make it an even number.
Guess I'm "OCD" on that sort of thing.

I have like 5 QTs on my commute, so if I need gas and I'm not coming or going from work I'll just get a few gallons, particularly if its a BP/Shell/Chevron where I'm probably paying .40/gallon more.

Any guy worth his salt fuels his woman’s car. This is something she should not be concerned with.
