Took work email off my phone in 2015 and my life improved tremendously. I probably get 250 emails a day. Too easy to get sucked into the vortex.

Companies are getting away from emailing non-exempt workers because if they read it that is compensable time.

I do during work hours. I have a separate phone for work vs personal. Work phone is off after 4:30 on weekdays and weekends.
I would go nuts if I had work calls/emails on my personal phone.

If you have to answer emails on your off time, its not your off time

It violates compliance guidelines at my company, so no, I do not. I cannot even receive them on my personal phone.

The only time I check email is when someone texts and says they sent me one.

Of course. Why would I want to have to pull out the laptop every time I need to check an email

Nope but it is possible.
To do it, you have to give them the right to install a remote wipe program IT controls on your phone. Not happening unless they give me a work iPhone.

Yes. All day every day. My job is in supply chain management and purchasing. A lot of my emails involve the port or Chinese factories. For me to be great at my job I need to be available and responsive. I'm kind of at a place in my life where I have nothing better to do anyway.

I check them on my phone during work hours. Unless I have a company issued phone, I won't respond to any emails outside of working hours. Work policy is if you answer an email outside of work hours, you're entitled to overtime. Boss got pissy when emails started being ignored on the weekends. People started responding to emails and turning in overtime. Boss stopped being pissy.

All the time. It's a compulsion and I hate it
This is 100% accurate unless you tend to work from your phone during the day. Not ideal if you like to sneak in a round of golf in the middle of a Tuesday, but preventing you from reading and responding to emails late at night or on weekends is probably a net positive for most of us.
