Popped up on my X feed.I know it’s more prevalent than it used to be but half? And it would have to be miserable being 27 or 28 and living with your parents. I mean how do you get laid like that.

"Under" 30 includes 18-21 year olds. Also, what is "almost" half. Misleading stats are misleading

I lived at home until I was 26 when I got married. I probably would've moved out sooner, but getting cancer kind of messed everything up and my wife and I were long distance.

Those stats should be more separated by age than 18-29. Even 50 years ago, nobody cared if an 18 year old was still living with their parents. 18 year olds can even be a senior in high school. I don't think anybody has ever really even cared if a 19 or 20 year old is still living with their parents.

There's a difference between that and age 29.

The stat is very misleading. The younger end of that spectrum is heavily skewing the numbers.

under 30 is a very wide group which includes right out of high school

21-30 would be way more useful

Seems believable considering it’s ages 18-30.

Thankful my grown kids are part of the half that are not living with a parent.

More thankful that I am not living with a parent! (I love my parents).

I see no problem in making sure your finances are in order before moving out. Now if the person hasn’t made any effort to better their outlook through education or their chosen career, I’d say get the freeloader out, but it was a huge advantage to only fully move out at 26 once my professional career was established. I mean most of that time I was living at school apartments and kept home as a base.

A few things here…
1. multi-generational households is not historically unique
2. Whether the kid is contributing equitably to the household or living an extended adolescence qualifies my judgement
3. I know it makes me sexist, but I judge male children more harshly in these scenarios.
4. My sons life would be very boring if he did this…..I want my house shutdown for the night by 930.

I do believe that and I also believe that 98% of the 30 year olds vote Democrat.

The OT likes to rage against the destruction of the family unit. Easy sex is a major part of the disintegration of the family unit.
Also, kids staying home until they can afford to buy sounds smart to me.

it would be much better to get in your car and chase a woman across the country & sleep out of it.

When I was in undergrad I lived in dorms but my permanent/voting residence was my parents house. That is probably true of millions of kids between 18-22

I don't think parents start telling their kids, when they are 14-15 years old that they better have a job by the time they turn 18 because they will have to start paying for groceries and everything they use.. or find their own place to live.

But I have also learned that a lot of parents do actually help their kids and help give them a step ahead in life.. but if kids have responsibility and figure out how to do things for themselves, they will likely be out the house by their mid 20s.
