I believe in God and the life-review that follows death.

There is a purpose to life - and I think that it is to love God and ones fellow man - not that I’m doing that great a job.

Guess I’ll find out one day.

In a world where 4 billion people are not born unto the Christian faith, does that mean all are to succumb to a fiery death? What about Buddhists, Jews, or those of the non-radical Islamic faith?

I had this question as a teenager. Our high school English teacher, who was also a preacher on the side, gave me a satisfying answer. He brought up the Parable of the Sheep and Goats. It says:

quote:

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

My teacher explained to me that that's why he believed those other 4 billion people have a chance at getting into Heaven, if it exists. The parable mentions nothing about being a believer in Christ or even God. It just talks about being a decent person. There are pretty easy counter arguments in scripture that one could use to dispute this belief, but there is a number of conflicting information in the Bible and it's a matter of interpretation. The answer gave me hope, so I ran with it, right or wrong.

Not believing in an afterlife doesn’t mean you necessarily also believe the world was created by chance

There's no reason to believe there's an afterlife.

It’s been proven there is life after death.

I know thw answer as it came to me in a dream one night.

When we pass our energy/self leave the body. We exist as a ball of energy/light that the physical world inhabitants cannot see.

After death you float out to space among the stars of the universe. You will come to see many other balls of light/energy. You may even recognize a few of them as people/family from the life you just exited.

The balls of light/energy congregate around planets where life exist in the universe. The Earth and planets harboring life are almost like amusement park rides where we go to get to learn from and experience the physical world.

In a sense it is like reincarnation.

Also, say you see your dead mother from your last life. You would both know of each other but the connection would not be the same. All of your universal knowledge comes back after death. You might have also had 100 mothers if you had jumped into the physical realm 100 times before and came in as human.

Yes and in reincarnation. I want to come back as a zoo animal. Maybe an orangutan.
That would be a good gig

My family hasn't seen the movie, but isn't this basically what the movie Soul on Disney+ says happens?

I'm 80 years old and am beginning to think seriously about what's to come. What I envisage is to be reunited with my wife of 48 years who passed away 10 years ago. I had a great life with her - sex was fantastic. I can see myself hooking up again with her over the next several trillion years.

Complication. I've remarried to a beautiful, sexy woman. It would be heaven to spend eternity bonking both of those women.

Further complication. My new wife is a widow - she had been married for over 35 years to a man she loved.

Now, while I could enjoy an ffm with my two wives for infinity, I'm not anxious to get into any mmff foursome.

What say the OT?

I dont think there is any sex in the afterlife. That is a physical pleasure. Not sure reproduction is really needed either.

I believe I have no clue. One side of me tells me that when we die it will be just like before you were born. You are not there. Its nothing.

Then another part of me says there has to be more than what we experience on Earth. It has to be more than just going through the stages of life and then it being over.

We are told there is heaven and hell, but there isn't any evidence. I had someone tell me they truly believe this life is hell. That person had experienced some really bad things and had a completely different view of life after these things.. All we can do is be who we are and when we die we will find out.
