You know you can still "balance your checkbook" in 2021 baw. It's just all electronic now. And you use cards instead of cheques.

Reading comprehension isn’t high on your list “baw.” I’m in the industry and well aware of electronic means.

I’m 31 and I balance my checkbook once a week. Never write checks but still enter any auto drafts, credit card payments, etc.

Been doing it since I was 18 Just a habit now I guess. It’s aesthetic for me

ETA: To clarify, I balance by hand in a paper ledger. I’m 31 going on 81

I just go online to get my balance and see when checks are cleared

Check the checking account and all cc bills once a month, looking for anything shady/weird charges.

I always keep a 5k buffer in checking account that I mentally say is $0 to prevent any overdrafts and to be able to take a few grand cash out of checking without worry in case of a disaster like a hurricane or something.

It's just a popular thing to do on social media. Half of the people who like to complain about Boomers
have Boomer parents.

Balancing your checkbook nowadays is checking your bank account online.

It's not a boomer thing, it's a responsible person thing. It's just called something different now.

I manually input my bank transactions into YNAB every 3-4 days. I don't like importing.

Boomer here, and I haven't balanced a checkbook in almost 30 years. I just keep far more money in the account than I spend. only poors have to balance a checkbook.

I pay for everything with a credit card and then pay it off every week I get paid. That’s all the balancing I do.
