Find me a flawless system and I will support it.

People arguing 'It doesn't take that much to raise a kid' is like admitting you don't spend money on your child. While the calculation doesn't always work, it is a baseline.

Won't happen. They base it on income.

I know that isn't how it happens, that was just my ideal situation to make it fair for both parties.

Blake Griffin's ex is getting $200k a month. She should get what it takes to raise however many children they had. Outside of that she needs to get a damn job like everyone else.

How much is Blake spending a month on the kids?

100%. I know people paying way more than necessary simply because they have great jobs and incomes while the women basically do nothing but live (lavishly) off that. “Child” support my arse

I never said that,I just support accountability for how cs is actually spent, as opposed to our current system of tax free, unbridled play money for the parent, usually the mother, that has primary custodial residency

The issue is when the “baseline” is set by using the notion of what an ex and the kids are “accustomed to” pre-divorce. So if one spouse makes significantly more than the other, it becomes a rather unequal share of the financial burden IMO. And inevitably ends up handing money to their ex to spend on themselves under the guise of “for the kid”.

The best way to explain it...

The kid deserves a certain lifestyle. The child support is given to ensure that the child can maintain the same lifestyle at both households.

It isn't fair to punish one parent who can't provide the same level.

If the parent decides to skimp, that's something they have to live with.

The court has more important shite to do than worry about watching nickles and dimes.

The kid's should have that expectation.

I'm split on the issue.

While there are tons of women who have kids just for the checks, there are some who legitimately need the support otherwise she and the child will be living in poverty, absent father or not.

Then you have the fathers who want custody just so they don't have to pay, or pay as much, child support. That's a different issue though.

So how are you split on the issue? You sound like a piece of shite. You completely disregard father's that actually want their children like it is some minority outcome. frick you completely. I am a father in a truly 50/50 situation, and I thank God I was smart enough to, either convince, or to have relationship with a woman that was smart enough to realize what's fair. I make more than her yes, but as far as child expenses go....say our income is 85/15 out of the total....I pay 85 percent of everything and she pays 15. If either of us deem that we want something beyond what is required for basic necessities, we either just pay it ourselves or we talk about it if it's something that truely matters. It's a wierd thing to say, but I could not have had a better ex. And again one last time, frick you for dismissing the men's perspective.

Who sets the amount? The court? They already do that.

Courts set the amount, the amount goes into 1 specific credit card. The father has access to view(view only) what is purchased on said credit card and thus could call out/dispute any obvious charges that aren't going to the child's well being.

That's obviously a very, very rough draft of it, but let's not act like there's just no possible way we could ever know that the mother is spending the money on the child or not.

So the parent recieving needs to save receipts or justify how much gas is used? Get real.

Imagine thinking it's a terrible idea for to make sure money allocated to a child is being spent on the child and not wasted by the mother.

So Blake Griffin who probably makes near $5mil/month as the Father can go on being filthy rich living in a mansion but should give the mother of his kids only enough to raise them and the kids should just live a lower income life if the Mom doesn't get a good job?

Sure, she doesn't need $258k month, or that amount should be tracked to ensure it's being spent on the kids and any excess should be put in a fund for them. But to say the kids should get the minimum amount needed to be raised isn't remotely fair to the children.

Imagine wanting to make sure your child support money isn't buying mommy a new pair of shoes or a trip to the nail salon. The fricking nerve.

Give the other parent access to see how his child support money is being spent, he can watch the nickles and dimes. Divorced parents are always going back to court and fighting over whatever, so it wouldn't exactly be any different if a hearing was had because he had some sort of proof that she wasn't spending the money accordingly.
