re: Do you acknowledge receipt of emails?

I work in advertising so things are very often time sensitive. When they are a "Thanks, confirming receipt" email is sent so that it's known that it was seen and is underway.

Now, when people reply all with "Thanks", it makes me want to punch someone, and I make it known around the office that that is not ok.

I never get important emails so I never get receipt requests

Sorry to tell you that read reciepts aren’t the only way to tell if you’ve opened an email. It’s just the only way to acknowledge that you know that they know you read the email.

I work in email marketing and tracking metrics are vital to my job. There are even gmail extensions you get to do this for you.

I don’t allow auto sent email response confirmations, but I always acknowledge business related emails. I think it’s common courtesy unless it’s a large group informational email which doesn’t require a response.

So you just leave it unread for several day? just click "read", skip the email, and go back to it later.
