If the server isn't that big of a deal, why is it the biggest complaint of a meal?
Because they are being paid directly by the customer?
In my experience, waiters inflate their worth by a large degree. I have heard many in my life say something like "yeah I make $20/hr but you have no idea what kind of bullshite I have to put up with". Newsflash, everyone deals with bullshite at any job that is worth a shite.
I just think it is clear that for the best servers, they make a decent living, as they should. But there seems to be a lot of bitter beavers that don't get tipped out as much as they think they deserve and wear it on their sleeve.
And no, prices would not skyrocket if waiters were switched to fixed wages. And you can't logically claim the service would deteriorate that much. You would likely just see an adjustment in how the businesses are run. You wouldn't have 5 servers standing around on a slow night making MW, you would likely just see a lower amount of servers, that would be responsible for less service.
When I go to Texas Roadhouse, I don't need service equal to 20% of the marked up food price. Since you don't have a choice in the matter, yeah, you actually are a special guest in the restaurant. Servers know the stakes, they know they have to perform to get paid. Nobody wants to hear Hey weren't compensated properly in the job they chose.

Clearly you've never had to wait on a TPOS party.
clearly not my problem. you're saying that I, the party that tips well and presents no problems, has to pay more to the waiter from the suffrage that they receive from the TPOS parties who tip like shite?
Posted on 7/1/16 at 3:11 pm to Chad504boy
usually give the waitress just the tip

It's really fricking easy, man. Some really dumb, lazy people are not only servers, but successful ones.

you can't sit here and tell me that you can put some uneducated hood rat in a restaurant and expect that they will give good service to a table. It takes a lot more than you think to be a good server. I assume you haven't served tables before?

I do see this a lot in the service industry today. A really big sense of entitlement.

Did you have one of those mechanisms to clean the bits of crumbs off the table and sweep into a little device at the end of the table?

Chad, I am an accountant. Who has taken several Econ classes. Tell me what you do for a living.
Cause if you want to point fingers at me and try to make me sound dumb... not gonna happen because you sound like a fricking retard

Secondly, when a waiter is making a flat $15 an hour, the service, from my experience, has been sub par.
exactly. it's just the way the world works. If you are promised something, you will slack. If you aren't promised something, you have to work a little harder to get what you want.
I've had great service and horrendous service under the current model. I don't expect it would be any different if there was a flat payment of sorts.

What's interesting is that the TPOS regularly goes out to eat when they clearly can't afford to do so.
I feel for the waiter having to deal with all their bullshite, and no, I wouldn't expect to overcompensate them while serving me. It's clearly their choice to be a waiter.

You and Chad just sound very angry at the fact that you are both cheap. Sorry guys.

But don't be that guy who doesn't tip when the service is good. It shows the type of person you are. And if you don't care, once again shows the type of person you are.

I just figured you would know the correct terminology for it, being the fact that you are so vehemently supporting service industry workers.
ETA : It's called a crumb scraper. LOL

So, you never judged tables that sat in your section?

I have also worked other jobs before starting my career that weren't in the service industry. I have been on salary, and not on salary. Thus, I am not biased. I find it funny that there is so much hate for people that do serve tables. But then again, I tip 20% every time, unless the server sucks.

14 pages and this is all from the OP who is trolling with a marginal amount of money.
we are talking less than $2 on a $100 dinner bill.
get it together OT
