Fits the classic profile of the angry waiter.

Are you more decisive with your shitty tips?

well then don't tip if the service is bad. that simple.
No, it isn't that simple, and that is the point of the thread. There are plenty of us who tip something regardless because that is the fricked up way the system works and because we know waiters don't make shite.
This may sound a bit dramatic, so fair warning, but the current system places undue stress on the customer. Increase food prices as necessary to compensate the level of competence you need from your staff and most of us would be happy. I'm just tired of the stigma associated with tipping less than a certain amount because that is the social norm. 3 glasses of wine "requires" a higher tip than 7 soda refills. frick that.
If you price people out who are shitty tippers, even better for all of you, because I'm sure you can attest that the shitty tippers are almost invariably shitty customers as well.

kinda think the whole tipping thing is pretty pointless.
Why are waiters expecting tips when the rest of the working world gets a regular paycheck for doing their job?
Was in London last summer. Would tip, locals would say, what the frick? You don't tip.
But hey I got served immediately every time I went up to the bar.
With everything socialized it makes sense. You can make a career out of waiting and bartending because of it. Don't need tips.

you ever wonder if someone is actually deliberately doing stuff so that they don't appear more smarter than others. you really thinking your getting one on me or did i just get a one on you?

Do you perceive that the waiter/waitress "judges" his or her tables prior to service?

It depends on what you mean by "judges" but they are fools if they don't.

For the amount of bitching in this thread about having to tip, order take out. Idk how many times I have to say that. Being served and paying for service is part of the gig. if you don't want to pay for service, don't waste the servers time.

Do they take race, gender, the type of clothing the customer is wearing, as some variables?

Because I worked in the service industry when I was going through college and understand what I am talking about.
I have also worked other jobs before starting my career that weren't in the service industry. I have been on salary, and not on salary. Thus, I am not biased. I find it funny that there is so much hate for people that do serve tables. But then again, I tip 20% every time, unless the server sucks.
You and I are a lot alike, right down to our standard tip amount and the degree we hold. We also apparently have pretty different opinions on the ideas in this thread, so your credentials that give you the superior unbiased opinion aren't really valid.
Who is the arbiter of what is considered "good" service? You seem to want it to be the person upon whom that judgement is cast, rather than the recipient of the service. And I know there many times where objectively good service is not rewarded, but every server thinks he/she is awesome.

Neither was I until I got worse at it from experience.

No, but do you exert more or less effort on a TPOS table or someone paying with a company AMEX card?
Posted on 7/1/16 at 3:47 pm to Breauxsif
well dcrews has fantastic waiter reviews so he must not pre-judge and treats all of his patrons as equal tipper opportunisticly.

And to each their own when it comes to what they think is a fair tip. That goes beyond what we can debate.
