From what I can tell by observing social media, they have absolutely no idea. They word prefer whatever TikTok tells them they should prefer. Which is subject to change at any given time.

It depends on what kind of ladies you’re looking for. Or more importantly, what they’re looking for. If they’re just looking to get D’d down, your money doesn’t matter at all. It’s only about how attractive you are to them.

That’s way too simplistic. What makes a woman—or a man—“shallow?” Are the women who will jump into bed with a good-looking, tatted up, 35-year-old drummer in a band still trying to “make it” shallow? Or a 25-year-old, 6’3”, juiced up gym bro who can barely put 2 coherent sentences together? Does that make her shallow? Or a “famous” C-list actor that has 3 IMDB credits to his name that she bombarded his DMs with so persistently, she finally caught his attention? Or an IG influencer who has 500k+ followers?

Women are attracted to men with all kinds of different surface level traits. I don’t see why having money would be one that her more shallow than anything else. And besides, money usually comes along with a higher social status, which most women tend to find attractive. So it’s not just the money, but some of the other things that come with it.

Online dating—which I have admittedly never participated in, but have been observing and researching (not just anecdotal evidence, but actual studies) because I have 2 teenagers and want to be educated enough to help guide them through the absolute shite-show they will inevitably be walking into when they begin seriously dating—has been a clusterfrick that has perverted “dating” beyond all recognition to most of us older folks. And it’s all shallow by our previous standards. What do the recent studies show, a person takes an average of like 1.3 seconds to decide which way to swipe?

And the crazy part, is that almost none of the participants seem to be all that happy playing. A lot seem downright miserable. There are very few winners—relatively—and even that depends on your definition of “winning.”

I’ve got a lot of thoughts on this—and none are a judgment on either males or females. Especially young ones who were born into this already fricked up dating world. But I’ll save those. To the OP’s original question, yes, young baws—and bawettes—peacock to try to get each other’s attention.

But it’s almost all online now and more extreme. You can’t just wear a fricking green feathered hat to stand out in a particular club on a particular night. You are competing with—and have to stand out from—an almost infinitely bigger pool of fellow competitors. Because your club is not the new hip one in Vegas. It’s the whole fricking world.
