No, people go out of their way to avoid me. Wherever I'm from..to them, isn't far enough away.

I'm offensive to all 5 senses.

Not all that strong of an accent, but they've never played the guessing game with me. I just tell them where I'm from when they ask.

No. Most people are surprised when I tell them I am from Louisiana. Swamp people has fricked our culture.

I don't really have a discernible accent, so no.

I always assumed that most port cities had a small population with that accent

I moved to Montana 3 yrs ago after being in south for 20 yrs. My boss doesn't understand how I'm able to tell where southern accents are from but I'm usually right.

Do they ever get it right?

They do not, unless we are in French speaking areas of Canada.

Because of my job, I can pinpoint most races by country and most accents to within a state or two.

Totally guessed that the lady at school aids the other day was from the Midwest but had spent considerable time in Maryland

Not if you're from south of I-10.

Spent nearly every day of my life south of I-10 up until 3 years ago. Ascension Parish and Baton Rouge's accent isn't very strong. It's like all the accents converged and cancelled each other out so everyone sounds like they're either from Cleveland or Mississippi.

I was born and raised on the northshore, so no accent. I've had people damn near argue with me that I must not be from Louisiana before.

I have no accent really. People from South Louisiana don't believe I'm from there sometimes. I grew up on the bayou, but don't speak flat at all.

My wife is from NOLA and her family is Yatty as f**k. She really isn't though, at least not that I notice.

I'm from East Biloxi. Back when I was a kid, our scout troop went on a trip to Pensacola with a group from Westwego. Even they couldn't understand half the shite I said.
I was all like "Woodja fukin meen yuh doan unnastan me, bruh?"

No one can tell I am from Louisiana. They say it's because I don't have an accent.

That's rather racist of them, right?!

Lol. I was born and raised in back bay. Moved to Louisiana pretty young and live in the pine belt now. Not much of an accent now but thanks for that.

Lol. I've always caught shite from anyone north of I-10 when I open my mouth, especially while in college in SW MS and Jackson.
I swear that I read and write like a normal person, it just comes out of my mouth sounding like JFK had a baby with a Chalmatian woman.

I know what you mean. My folks were in Biloxi for a hundred years and from Denmark. Most of the Hanson's there are related to me.

I'm from Louisiana, and I can tell where a lot of southern women are from because they're more expressive with their voices than men.
