I don't care where I am. I can recognize Concordia parish dialect anywhere. I might not know the person but I know where they're from. I don't have it anymore I haven't lived there since 93.

I have a pretty deep Accent which I grew up in Mississippi, but most people guess Louisiana or Texas

I get this fairly often, and the guess I hear most is NC. Which is funny because I'm from NJ but lived in LA for 12 years. It's mostly because I use the greeting "you all".
I have met a very few people who can discern particular sounds in my speech and nail it, but mostly rare occurrence.

Don't have an accent but have very southern word choice.

Eta: let me rephrase it as I don't think I have a strong accent and no one has remarked on it.

Apparently I sound like I'm from the Midwest. My diction is pretty neutral.

I have noticed SA people have a little bit of a hispanic nasally twang/whine when they say particular words.

In NELA you'll find more of a genteel Delta/ Southern accent than the east Texas clip you find around Shreveport.

ok i know what you mean. what i find most interesting about this is that if you go back 50 years, everyone from DFW talked like this. Go back and listen to some JFK shooting interviews and you'll see what I mean.

Yankees moving in around this time, of which many I"m sure had teaching jobs and taught their manner of speech to the children and in one generation it's gone. s
