Do people really care about athletes kneeling before the anthem?

I have a limit in the things I care about and while I do not approve of the kneeling during the anthem, particularly when it is athletes representing our nation like the Women's soccer team, the kneeling before is just not my concern.
That being said I think playing the made-up Black national anthem alongside the Star Spangled Banner or putting up a banner in support of a Marxist organization like Black Lives Matter is completely indefensible.

Only because I want NO politics in my sports. NONE.
I go to sports for an escape from that bullshite. If an athlete wants to comment on Politics, he should do so on his own time, not during the games broadcast.
The sports league should have nothing to do with endorsing any politics whatsoever.

I do somewhat just because many people have died protecting this country and the kneelers and there should be respect for their sacrifice and the opportunities the millionaires have for playing a game 3 months out of the year they were afforded.
Those who sacrificed were also all colors, religions, and ethnicity.

Why do they only kneel during the anthem? Why not before the first pitch or right before kickoff? How many more people are paying attention at those times compared to the anthem if watching on TV?

What’s funny is they say they aren’t disrespecting the flag. When the jaguars and the ravens played in London, they kneeled for our anthem and stood for “God Save the Queen” because they didn’t want to disrespect England by kneeling.

This is how I feel. The more politics gets shoved in my face in sports the more I'll tune out.
I used to watch ESPN pretty regularly but haven't turned it on in years other than for the occasional LSU game. It's like watching CNN now.

Why the hell can't the anthem be played BEFORE players take the field/court? It used to show patriotism for players to stand with hand on heart when the anthem was played or sung - now it will be a distraction when there's really no need.
