I remember as a kid playing front yard football for hours. In the fall we would rake all the leaves up and dive to make a catch into the leaves. Our neighborhood is filled with kids and these little bastards never plays outside. I lock my daughter out of the house when the weather is nice and tell her not to come back for a few hours

Sometimes I lock the door.

If we didn't live on the fricking sun, I'd be more strict on this. I don't even want to be outside for a good part of the year here.

By the ruckus on the trampoline at the house behind me every evening I can say, yes, kids do still play outside.

Lets be real about it. The options for kids are MUCH greater now.

Ive noticed in my neighborhood that is FULL of younger families that kids do not go out when its over 90 degrees or under 60. But in that 60-mid 80s range the kids are outside pretty non stop.

I was born in 87. Didnt have nearly the technology they have now growing up. Its obvious tech makes a difference. And it would be no damn different than if you were a kids these days.

My kids are 4 and 2. I try hard to keep them outside as much as possible to play like that. But i also try hard to avoid the "back in my day we would still be outside" thing. That doesnt help

My Aunt would offer us popsicles if we ate them outside and then lock us out.

I remember a baseball and a brick wall would keep me entertained everyday for hours. Now kids need help using their imaginations. I pitched 3 no hitters and won the college World Series atleast 200 times. Yes we lost a few too.
