Not in Houston no. A rotty down the street from me has maimed one dog and killed another and animal control still didn't put him down.

Yes unless unlikely dead dog is a pit.

Depends on circumstances obviously. If your cat and/or dog comes onto my property and my dog kills it, sucks for you.

Depends
They are quarantined for observation for sure
Length of time depends on where you live
Final decision is up to Animal Control

No, my dog would get rewarded for killing a cat.

A door was left loose in an office and a dog ended up killing a cat.

I once watched my golden retriever grab a five foot copperhead near its tail end and kill it. The dog accomplished this by shaking violently back and forth, like they do when they dry off, and this swung the snake around bashing it's head against the ground on one side then the next several times.

...

I said "good girl," and gave her a treat.

My doberman killed several feral cats and squirrels growing up. This type of behavior was encouraged though, Squirrels were eating away at the wood on the side of my old house and sneaking into the attic.

No. You may have to do the right thing and pay the vet bills for the survivor if not a fatal fight.

They might call it trashy or something if that's what you mean.

My Aussie once decided that all the barn cats were intruding into her "herding" territory so she slayed every one of them (they were laid out in the area around the barn).

It took me several years to get her where she wouldn't immediately kill a cat. She will still chase the feral ones (which invariably run up one of the many trees around). If they turn to fight, they lose.

My Aussie loves to kill copperheads, and has killed quite a few. I was walking her late the other night by the courthouse when I spotted a copperhead in front of the courthouse. It scurried into a bunch of shrubber surrounding a sign. Dog kept trying to dig and pull out the shrubbery with her teeth (it is thick and she couldn't squeeze in).
I had to call her off before she tore everything up.

Next night took her off and she got it.
