Can't lie, I'm kinda on team "Flaming Liberal" on this one..

Ain't no telling how much nasty shite we consume and breathe in regularly..

China and other exporters probably slip weird shite in our products all the time..

Sometimes, but the reality of the matter is that those things are just a very small percentage of the total harmful things I consume daily...

So it's not a big deal to me

You know what is the most detrimental thing to our society?
Too many people sweating the smallest shite.
Go endeavor to persevere.

If it’s as big of a problem as your question implies, then it’s likely to kill us all.

So, in the immortal words of Alfred E Neuman, What, me worry?

How is this political? I got rid of all my plastic cutting boards, I can easily see how plastic can get into food if you're scraping up bits in prep. It doesn't take a genius. I have never heated food up in the microwave in plastics. I store cold food only in plastic, the rest goes in glass.

No styrofoam coffee cups, ever.

This has become more of a right wing worry over the years because of it lowering testosterone. Flaming liberals love having low testosterone, so they don't give a shite.

I’ve read in more than a couple places,
To go coffee or hot anything in what we think is a paper cup. Is a blast of micro plastic to the system. Cause the paper is impregnated with plastics, otherwise, yes the paper will leak on its own.

A buddy of mine wouldn't take a piece of Trident gum because he claimed it was nothing more than micro plastics. I asked my doctor about it and he laughed and said it was so minute that there was little worry about it. not that I was surprised.

Agree, I'm a proud, white American liberal male. I support Islam, those blacks, and microplastics if it makes our eggs cheaper.

I am not some flaming ill-liberal but I am aware of all the crap and junk that we ingest everyday from the pathetic American diet.

Researchers from U of NM found this:

quote:

Microplastics – tiny bits of degraded polymers that are ubiquitous in our air, water and soil – have lodged themselves throughout the human body, including the liver, kidney, placenta and testes, over the past half century.

Now, University of New Mexico Health Sciences researchers have found microplastics in human brains, and at much higher concentrations than in other organs. Worse, the plastic accumulation appears to be growing over time, having increased by 50% over just the past eight years.

LINK

Supposedly, they found enough microplastics in human brains that was the equivalent of one plastic spoon.

So take it for what its worth. Our family uses water filters. We avoid bottled water all together.

Get a Reverse osmosis system or purchase one of the water pitchers. Hint: Stay away from the big box store cheapo Chyna crap. Spend the extra $$$ and get a good quality water filtration system.

There are even countertop reverse osmosis systems availble

I'm going to die and there's no avoiding it.

Old age alone is almost never the cause.

In other words, it's highly likely something is going to kill us so there's no point in worrying about shite like this.

Immediately and easily avoidable risks that greatly increase chances? Sure.

This ain't one of them.

No.

No one ever sees the follow up testing or data just the hysteria from the initial reports. No one ever looks into what’s going on, just run with a narrative.

quote:

Nitrile and latex gloves that scientists wear while they are measuring microplastics may lead to a potential overestimation of the tiny pollutants, according to a University of Michigan study. The study found that gloves may unintentionally contaminate lab equipment scientists use to measure microplastics in air, water and other samples with nonplastic particles called stearates. U-M researchers Madeline Clough and Anne McNeil suggest cleanroom gloves, which release fewer particulates, be worn instead.

So almost “micro” amounts?

Sounds like he simply validated that you were talking about microplastics.

It’s in more than just gloves.

Sampling bottles and containers, tubing and hoses, filters and filter holders, pipette tips, protective equipment (masks and clothing), instrument components, as well as storage and transport materials all have some form of plastic.

I’d like to see a review of the most impactful research with an eye toward a more complete review of all materials involved in the testing process.

But we have cut back on our reliance on plastics that have touched food when heated.

Sadly, I have noticed no changes in my taint size. I’ll keep you guys posted.
