I take 100mg every night and I sleep like a bear. Can’t imagine the trazadone zone I’d be in if I took 600mg.

If you take that much at once you will be able to sleep through a tornado. Just don’t expect to wake up and be functional or coherent. That equestrian dose of 600mg is going to linger well past the 8-10 hours of hibernation it’s going to put you in.

Take as much as you can get your hands on with about 7 shots a whiskey. You will sleep like a baby

I had an allergic reaction to seroquel last weekend even though I’ve taken it for like a year in the past

Vistaril and melatonin do about as much as Benadryl

But you think it’s ok to not sleep for a week and risk another manic episode?

Forcing brief sleep with sedative hypnotics will not lessen or shorten a manic episode. Only mood stabilizers will do that. Like I said, there is way more info that would be needed to make a reasonable determination about a medication change.

I meant if I don’t sleep, then I usually become manic

Do you know anything about tardive dyskinesia?

Also, that medication seems to be more of an antidepressant.

yes.

Side effect is getting to sleep.

Its not designed to keep the op asleep.

He labors under the delusion the trazadone failed. He reports sleeping a few hours.

If he wants better, take ambien.
Side effects galore and some really awful but if he just uses it when he needs to catch up its the one.
Plenty of threads on ambien.

Aloha dude.

I think you have to account for the additive effect of taking both especially taking one at maximum level.

Like someone mentioned you are risking serotonin syndrome and lowering of seizure threshold. Even current dosage may be making sleep worse combined with new medicine.

For insomnia the max dose of trazadone on its own is 200mg. 600mg is max for major depressive disorder and like you mentioned while also getting inpatient treatment and being monitored.

You might ask for something completely different to help sleep for a couple of nights that has less additive effect with vraylar and less risk for serotonin syndrome but definitely don’t go up on trazodone and maybe go down.

Isn’t that a possible adverse reaction to Vraylar?

I have family with similar issues. Im fairly certain that they take what you are taking. If I'm not mistaken, they also take a high quality valerian root.
You may want to check into that as well. Good luck.

Wife was prescribed trazadone to help her sleep a few months back. She took it one time and it gave here SEVERE anxiety and kept her up all night. Gave her Dr. the run down the next day and her Dr. told her to double her dose to which she politely replied "Piss off."

If you want an antidepressant that'll knock your arse out, ask for Remeron next visit.

Then prepare to be asleep about 15 minutes later no matter where you are.
