Divorced Parents—re child support and braces

My ex and I have a current child support arrangement that we’re both reasonably comfortable with. However, we’re about to have to throw braces into the mix, and I want to pay for them (would be easier logistically).
I’d rather not get any more attorneys or judges involved, but what is the standard when it comes to big additional expenses like this? What’s typical in this scenario and is reasonable for both parties? Let’s say braces are $250/month. Doesn’t seem fair to me to just add that to what I already pay. Conversely, I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to her to just subtract $250 from what I pay either. But the biggest thing, obviously, is what’s fair to the kids.
This is the 1st big extra expense we’ll be dealing with, and I know it’s just the beginning. There will be braces for the other kids, cars, tuition, etc...so I want to set the proper precedent early on. Experience, advice, etc...appreciated. TIA.

Make up your mind.

You pay for the top teeth and make her pay for the bottom.

I went through this already. I supply the insurance coverage for the kids and any items like braces are split 50/50 after insurance.

If braces are deemed medically necessary, then the agreement typically calls for both parents to split costs (eta: not covered by insurance). If cosmetic, then one parent pays.

Who pays for medical expenses isn’t laid out in your custody agreement???

Just communicate with your ex. And be reasonable and gracious.
And whatever happens, keep the kids out of it.

It’s a defined expense for your child, and you know exactly where the money will be going, which is more than you can say for the other child support.
It’s for your child, just pay it and don’t complain.

Don’t want your income reevaluated?
Write a check fir the braces.

Pay for it and she might get them involved when she expects you to keep picking up the tab in the future.
Absolutely figure out a fair agreement for both of you and keep records.

Look at the worksheet. Each pays in proportion to what they earn.

Have you tried talking to her first to just get her to agree?
Hubby and his ex just split the cost down the middle.

Orthodontist is usually covered for minors on your health insurance plan or a portion

You contradict yourself so much here.

I could be wrong, but I think Hot Carl wants to pay for the braces and have a certain percentage deducted from his child support payment. It's not going to work that way.

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with shite like this.

Pics of your Hot ex-wife Carl would be appreciated in determining an appropriate course of action in this issue.
TIA
Possibly some candid shots, perhaps taken on holiday?

You want to make life easy?
Just pay for them.
Just pay for them.

Either pay for them completely by yourself, or go 50/50 after insurance.
