Pretty easy, the first person I was married to wasn't a POS and we split everything 50/50 for the most part.

I'm going through this right now.
There will be no alimony. I am paying child support. Between child support and her salary, she will be able to maintain the family home, which she is keeping, and live a decent life. There will likely not be a lot of money for savings and there surely will not be a lot of money for trips and nice things. She is going to have to manage her money very well.
For me, yeah, I will likely live the apartment life for a year or two and then buy a new house. I will have a bit of a pauper lifestyle for a while.
Basically the cost of maintaining a second household (mine) is the amount of money that we were, together, saving and or using for spending money. It will be a lifestyle adjustment for both of us.
She's made several comments that she thinks financially she will be "ok" until child support ends. After that, who knows. Maybe she will remarry. She doesn't act like she wants to, but maybe she will kinda have to.

He probably settled on a lump sum payment, she thinks she's rich now but will be busted in five years.
Unless she can find another sucker

One of the best lessons that I learned at LSU was how to live on very little. Good money management is a great skill to have and many people do not have. After my wife(slut) divorced me I lived in a very modest 1 bedroom apt. for about 3 years. Now I own 3 houses, but I don't have a F-250,4 wheeler or a bass boat, that capital is investments.

i've been married twice. my current wife is a dream but when i was single and when i was divorced were the 2x in my life i was able to improve myself financially dramatically.
my current wife would NOT be happy with my cheap-arse pre-marriage lifestyle.
living in a cheap apartment in a questionable part of town, living off 'scratch and dent' groceries, never eating out and limiting activities to free parks and invites from friends..you can live really really REALLY cheap.

JHC, are there any wives of the OT out earning the husbands? ...that would certainly solve this repetitious question.

This is exactly what came to mind for me. Divorce often times screws men, no doubt. But an average dude isn't funding his ex's $450k house and two luxury SUVs.

Sounds like another thread. How do you fund your sidepiece without your spouse finding out? hmm
Create an LLC. Put her on the payroll.

Hopefully he's diving off into some 20 to 30 year olds for some fun.

OT ballers only marry women who do our laundry and make us sammiches.

Maybe there was no divorce and the husband suddenly died after she found out he had a $2.5mm life insurance policy on himself.

Rookie mistake if this happened. Always have to make sure the life insurance policy doesn't exceed future earning potential. Don't ever want the Mrs. to do a cost benefit analysis and decide that she's better off with you having a tragic accident.

Nah, I see him from time to time. We see them at the bus stop. He comes by and rides bikes with the kid. The kid is in one of our kids's classes... good kid.
Was just curious. I've seen so many guys over the years get divorced and get sent back to GO without collecting $200.

My ex wife wasn’t a massive vindictive b and knew that she couldn’t squeeze blood from a stone so she was willing to agree to a reasonable split and settlement without lawyers getting too involved. So, the whole process only cost me a few grand and my pets, and forced me to live with my parents for a year.
