What would happen if someone hid assets, railroaded the divorce. Once the divorce is done can one go back and have everything reviewed or is it a done deal.
Asking for a friend.

Nope. Judges and Courts are totally cool with people lying under oath and committing Obstruction. Rules definitely don't allow them to reconsider new facts.

It always can be reviewed and revisited.
It shouldn't be a case of double jeopardy.
It just may be harder to get things done, though.

One curveball to think about if you think you have found a smoking gun: Even though they should have disclosed it, if they weren't marital assets then its kind of a moot point

Depends on the sex of the railroader and the railroadee.

I know more than one guy with a divorce stash for this reason. Felt like their marriage was heading south, and starting hoarding cash on the side.

I had a friend's father try this. When the judge found out they sent him to jail.

You'd think a forensic audit would turn all that up. How much did he have stashed?

It can be done, trust me.

He said upwards of $10k. So almost a year's worth of child support. Pretty sure he was hiding money through his parents as well.

A family member got a small settlement and a small alimony for 3 years, but as soon as they were divorced the ex husband just all the sudden is balling out of control, so it was obvious he either misled what his assets were or he lied about them. He told her she didn't want to take on all his debt, but the reality was he cash flowing on everything.

Happening to my wife's friend now. Husband made a little under $300K his last year working, got canned, got a severance package of 1.5 years salary. Getting divorced, and all the money is gone. She didn't pay attention to their finances and didn't know he had secret accounts.
