. I wish they'd do a major monorail expansion, but I know it would cost hundreds of millions of dollars unfortunately.

I hear this guy can get them quite a deal...

I doubt we would see a monorail expansion. It would be a MASSIVE expense that makes ZERO money.

For a second, if you close your eyes, youll think we are talking about some government funded public infrastructure system. But alas, no, we're talking about fricking DISNEY WORLD.

Parking garages are under construction at Downtown Disney
It's so unbelievably bad. We used to take our boys there every couple of weeks or so, but now we don't go at all.

I went to a House of Blues concert a few months ago and drove around the parking lot and just got stuck, not moving for 30 minutes as the entire lot was not just full, but cars couldn't even drive around. Obviously, I shoulda went valet but once I was in the parking lot I was stuck and would have easily taken over an hour just to get back to valet. I was lucky enough to find a girl dumb enough to actually agree to get into my car and I'd take her to her spot so I could guarantee getting a spot.

We've been able to find parking fairly easy by Cirque de Soleil. It's a far walk to pretty much everything except Cirque, but it offers the least time in traffic for sure.

Agreed. I wonder at what point - or even in what year - will busses be regarded as yesteryear, dirty, slow, and "unDisneylike" for the corporation to seriously think alternatives.

It would take a serious overhaul in leadership for this to even cross their minds. They love the flexibility and cost effectiveness of busses.

ETA: The Hat coming down is long overdue. It was only meant to be "temporary" and has been budgeted to come down for years now only for the money to be reallocated year after year. This is the best announcement from them since the Wand came down at Epcot.

As for Studios changes. Obviously things are happening, but I won't get excited just yet. Current rumors point to a clone of Toy Story Playland and a third track for Toy Story Midway Mania. So yeah, curb your enthusiasm.

Something needs to be done though because the Studios is bleeding attendance and is propped up only by Star Wars Weekends and park hopper clicks.

Out of curiosity, what age group? I'm guessing tween/teenish?

It's a PITA to catch the busses everywhere.

Only sometimes. You can also use the ferry system, but that can be a very long endeavor depending on stops.

I've found that grabbing a cab to jump between hotels can be reasonable.

I still cannot see how monorail lines are so pricey.

Stay at a value or moderate resort they say. You'll only be there to sleep they say.

I stay off property and drive in. It's easy to do and works great. I doubt we will stay on property any time soon.

Star Wars

Part of me wouldn't mind seeing a giant Death Star that rivals the size of Spaceship Earth in EPCOT. Then again I also feel like that it would distract from the classic Disney feel.

I suspect it is the massive amounts of concrete needed for each column.

I had never seen the movie (sill havent) but can quote just about all the songs from it. It was crazy

You arent missing anything. Its really not that great. I could go on an entire rant about why Disneyfying the tails of Hans Christian Anderson doesn't work, but I'll save that for the M/TV Board.

Disneys marketing dept is genius, and that includes things like free parking. Think about it: Disney wants you on their properties spending your money. So they do all kinds of free/promotional stuff to get you there. Stay in the park? We'll transport you from the airport for free, handle all your bags. No need to pay to park, Disney will take you to any place on the property for nothing.

Hell, wife and I went on our honeymoon and had a free night with nothing to do, so I went to the concierge and asked for her recommendation. She booked us at that Italian restaurant in Italy in Epcot, got us VIP seating, and a voucher for a free dessert.

Customer service, yall, is an art at Disney properties. The thing that impressed me most from my last visit is they gave us Just Married buttons to wear around the park. Every cast member we interacted with, down to the guys changing the liners in the trash cans, told us "Congratulations." Think about how many service industry people you come into contact on a daily basis. Now think of how many of them have the awareness to recognize things like that. Now think about the fact that every single one of them does it at Disney.

Around what time of teh day we're talking?

The only times we ever go are after 6pm and the entire parking lot from end to end is a zoo.

From Sea World to Universal to LegoLand, they don't give you bad service but I'm always dumbfounded that they don't even attempt to teach their employees to go out of their way like Disney does. I never understood that.
