I've already scheduled our parks, usually based on what has the best hours. I know the parks are going to be packed, but one of the advantages of that is they stay open way later. HW is open until 2AM NYE.

If you mean longest hours, then you just scheduled your trip to all the busiest parks.

The "best hours" are parks that open at 9, not 8. Then, the key is to only go to those parks that stay open late once everything else has closed.

The reason is, not everyone gets park hoppers (I just don't understand the logic, but I digress). People that don't have park hoppers go to the parks with the longest hours, so they naturally have the most people and the longest waits.

Rides like Toy Story, Soarin, Mine Train etc will have long waits just about every day, BUT the difference is going to Hollywood Studios on a recommended day vs a non recommended day could be the difference in waiting 15 minutes for Tower of Terror rather than 45. 10 minutes for Star Tours rather than 40. 5 minutes for Muppets as opposed to 15.

Also, when you're in the park the MDE app sucks for reporting current wait times. This is a good one that you can shortcut on your phone that not only tells you what the posted standby time is, but what the actual wait time is as well

While NYE will probably be not that bad at HW past 11, everything I've read usually suggests not going to the park with the longest hours. They say that, yes, you get extra time there, but the extended hours bring in way more people and you actually end up getting in fewer attractions then you would have at one of the other, less busy parks.

I agree, and generally we follow that advice, but NYE is a different animal from what I've read. Parks quit admitting ticketed guests after they reach a certain capacity, which I'm told can happen as early as that afternoon. Supposedly HW is the least crowded of the three that have fireworks for the NY celebration. We shall see...
