Disney spent 4 years and $400M to put LED lights in the concrete and they are starting to fail already. Supposedly, they are using 4400 psi on the pressure washer and breaking them lol. Epcot spent the last 4 years with construction walls all over making it a big eye sore and because of the broken LED lights, the construction walls are going back up lol.

I don’t understand what the hell Disney is doing. Use that money towards a new park or new rides. They spend 4 years just putting LED lights on the ground, Disney took 5 years to build one ride Tron while Universal Studios is only taking 2 years to build their new park Epic Universe lol. I read that all the top imagineers left or got fired from Disney and all are going to Universal.

They replaced a nice large fountain area with a planter box and shoddy lights.

universal wouldn’t be what it is if it wasn’t for Disney. That said - Universal seems to be more innovative - Disney is losing ppl bc of their political stance.

They did that, too. Made a whole Star Wars themed hotel. It is closed already, or will be soon.

I put in LED lights in my office and now it looks like a rave party. $25 on Amazon.
Sounds like a slush fund for Disney

I'm a fan of this company but holy shite - how long can they just keep shooting themselves in both feet:

NY Post article

quote:

“Generally, our revenues and profitability are adversely impacted when our entertainment offerings and products, as well as our methods to make our offerings and products available to consumers, do not achieve sufficient consumer acceptance,” the company said in its SEC filing.

Disney went on to note that “consumers’ perceptions of our position on matters of public interest, including our efforts to achieve certain of our environmental and social goals, often differ widely and present risks to our reputation and brands.”

It's a little disingenuous to say "they just put some LEDs in the ground" when that makeover was VERY extensive and included a very interactive Moana water attraction. We took our daughters over the Thanksgiving break. It's a pretty cool little attraction where you can control water is various ways using your hand/body motions.

However, Disney is doing weird shite with their parks. They're spending TONS of money with very little to show for it.

My BIL is one at universal. Disney fricked over a lot of their own people during Covid, according to him. Plus they’re not pedos.

The parks are continuing to do fine. The bigger problem for the parks are the prices. It is outrageously expensive to go to Disney. Universal is a lot cheaper.

It's what the kids love. With LED lights they'll be fired up and stay all day rather than leaving at halftime.

Please provide a link to your claims in the OP. Thanks.

PS: I don't believe your $400 million for lights claim is true.

as much as they gouge customers I hope the companies who do the work gouge them...all passed on to the consumer though

It absolutely is not. The prices are pretty comparable now once you include everything, but at least you know Universal is actually adding attractions while Disney seems to just be doing facelifts.

They didn't spend $400M and 4 years just on LEDs, they did a huge update of the entire front half of the park.

LED lights in the concrete seems like a complex endeavor and yeah with as much pressure washing as they do, not sure how it will work.

Tron is a huge ride in a massive themed building, that required the relocation of the railroad. Plus, they started that pre-COVID... they didn't do anything for months and their capex outlays have slowed down, which slowed down the ability to finish it up.

And yet, as much as they charge now, people are still paying for it (Except for the star wars hotel... I will agree that was a massive, massive mistake... there's not enough Star Wars fans out there with the income to pay disney cruise line prices for that).

Investing money trying to not only improve their facilities, but also to be leaders in innovation. You win some, you lose some. This one didn’t work out for them. What’s the issue here?
