There’s also a different variation of the game where you knock and then run away.

What’d they call that one?

Some kids play it in our neighborhood. I think I’ve officially reached the age where I think it’s annoying.

And I can also see how it might lead to someone getting shot if you pick the wrong house.

bell. Then watching them from afar stomping on the bag to put out the fire and getting dog shite all over their shoes

Not sure that everyone that talks about this is being truthful. I’m 54 and have never seen it. Additionally if there were a burning bag on my doorstep I believe I’d figure out the prank in .25 seconds, just like everyone

The game is now much more "culturally" related.

Back when I was a youngster, we would occasionally play a game called Ding Dong Ditch. For those that don’t know how this works, basically you ring somebody’s doorbell, when you hear it go Ding Dong, then you run away (Ditch) before anybody can look through the peep hole or open the door to see who it is.

Thank you for explaining something that literally everyone on the planet is familiar with.

My oldest daughter and I used to do this together to various neighbors we were friends with. It was our little fun, outlaw bonding game. Don’t follow all the rules with their kids btw, and they will have a lot of advantages .

We would play this in the early mid 2000s growing up. Until our redneck neighbor had enough of our BS, and decided to scare us. Came knocking on my friends parents door one night, after we ding dong ditched his house, holding his Glock. Said he coulda shot us and all of that stuff.

Now that I think about it tho, that was mighty stupid of him to just knock on someone’s door holding a pistol. Could have easily gone very bad for him.

my kids do it in the neighborhood, lots of kids do. as parents we just put it in the group me to make sure none of the old people get mad and nobody comes out ready to whoop a kids arse or worse

kids dont know we put it in there.

yea its kind of helicopter parenting but i dont want some old boomer coming out with a gun or some stupid shite over kids playing games.

My nearest neighbor is almost a mile away so it doesn't really happen around here. Kids nowadays seem a bit too lazy to do that anyway.

In their defense, sprinting away for a mile every time would take some of the fun out of the game.

I was probably in my 20s the first time I heard it referred to as ding dong ditch, and I lived far from the deep South.

Some dummies still do it to homes with door bell cams and security cams. Nextdoor app complainers is my source to support my comment.

How do you go from “hard r” knocking to this? Who coined this soyboi term and how did it stick?

A neighborhood kid did it a few years ago. He was exactly what you'd expect, and I have cameras, so I know who it was. Hasn't been back since. Little shithead thought it was funny until 6'3" me came outside and the little nagger ran away and probably shite hit pants
