a lot of What is posted on OT is false.

Currently only up to 25 register.

35 was high age during Vietnam.

No draftees since1973.

Back then there was a lottery too. Each birth Date had a place from 1 to 365.
I was 364.

When I hit and 18 was ready to sign up, I discovered it had already been done a month before.

I assume my counselor thought I was a malcontent little shite who would just not do it for the lulz.

yes. my lottery number was 64 in 1973, and i was expecting to be drafted in July. We started pulling out of Viet Nam in February and they stopped the draft. saved me from saying "eh" the rest of my life.

actually, i was set to join the navy at a moment's notice.

Back in the 60s you had 30 days from your 18th birthday. It was a big deal to stay current in school or you were drafted. My lottery # was 355 so I had little chance of getting drafted. But I do regret not enlisting after college.

I was told when I turned 18 I had to sign up in order to get a government job, get student loans and get a driver's license. You pretty much have to.

Not entirely sure but I think the highest age the draft has ever gotten was 25 or 26.

My grandfathers were 10x the men I am because if I got drafted I can't say for sure I wouldn't move to Canada. frick getting shot at

I didn't have to. They suspended registrations before I turned 18. When they resumed registrations, it applied to men born on or after January 1, 1960, which didn't apply to me.
