Was in the market for a new backpack for travel with my laptop and various items. Was going to go the Tumi route and stumbled across Yeti's as I needed an extra gasket lid replacement for my insulator.

I went with the Navy 27L ( LINK)

I hope I'm not the only idiot that didn't know they made backpacks (or even duffel bags!).

How did Yeti get so popular? I don't get their pricing and people lining up to pay for it. Are their products truly that great or this is "keeping up"?

For April 1, Yeti should introduce reusable toilet paper.

If you were going to spend that much money, you should have bought Peak Design.

It’s both. The quality of their products is legit, but relatively few people actually require that level of quality; they buy it for the status symbol. Yeti has made their money by selling the appearance of living a certain kind of lifestyle. Guys buy it for the same reason women want Gucci and Louis Vitton shite.

Take their coolers for example. There are certain people who actually require the kind of insulation their coolers provide, like serious outdoorsmen and charter captains.

Your average dude going to hang out on the beach for a few hours could easily make do with a $20 cooler from wal-mart. But that just wouldn’t look as cool, would it?

This is just like buying the Escalade for 158k.

If you buy a backpack for that cost, you are incredibly stupid.

All you are doing is trying way way too hard to be seen with something that says yeti on it

I don't own any Yeti products, but they started with coolers because they thought all coolers on the market were shite. So they made their own line of "indestructible" coolers which got really good reviews overall (although expensive).

Then they branched out into drinkware. While of good quality, their cups and tumblers are massively overpriced. Yeti's drinkware is all made in China, so it's not like they have American overhead. You can get numerous brands much cheaper that are of the same quality (RTIC, Ozark Trail, etc.)

For being an attorney, you don't seem very knowledgeable about one of the most popular brands in the US.

Their products are good, but are no better quality than some much cheaper brands. I’m pretty sure it’s just marketing that made them so popular. But it’s still a good cooler/tumbler/backpack, so I don’t judge anyone for buying their gear.

Looks like a decent bag, although the price is a little steep. I have a North Face Surge Transit II that is a fantastic backpack. Was looking at the new North Face bags not too long ago and they're all cheap as hell now.

I have the big arse bottle and it keeps ice frozen and water cold for 3 days, so yeah, it was worth it. I always have the thing with me.

I’m not as much of an outdoorsman maybe like others here, but the idea of needing my ice to last a week just doesn’t stimulate the need for me to drop $400 on a cooler.
Just me though.

One of my vendors gave me 2 of those big coolers. I never understood it when I looked at the tag and it said $350. The other one I think was $450 as it has a handle and bigger wheels to roll. I threw the $350 one on Craigslist for $300 and it sold in an hour. I couldn't believe it. I have like 5 of their cups, the big cooler, and one of the smaller coolers and didn't pay for a single one. When I looked at their tags, I thought to myself I'd never pay that much.

The price tag is high, but you paying for a high quality ice chest with the best warranty in the business. You can buy 50 dollar ice chest every year or buy 1 yeti for life.
