Did the dorms have access to the actual stadium seating, different levels/gates, or the field? Or were the dorms blocked off from the fun parts of the stadium?

Oh, you could get in. One of my jackass friends and I decided to roam the stadium one night. We did something that attracted the attention of the LSU police, and they chased us around the stadium for a couple of hours. Damn near caught us, too.

We wrote them an anonymous letter pointing out how close they had come.

don't know waht year this was Cruiser but when I was there, and for quite a few years after I graduated, the stadium was wide arse open for anyone who wanted to go in, there was a ground level entry where you could drive right onto the field if you wanted to

My dad lived in them. He told me that it would get so hot, that he'd wake up in the middle of the night, take a cold shower, then try to get back to sleep before he got hot again.

Speaking of those dorms, are there any old timers on here that lived in those? Always curious of what that was like.

No, they all died of asbestos related cancers

I bought some property from a guy that lived there in the 60’s. He said it was hot as hell in the summer and cold in the winter.

Tuition + board = $400.

They were exactly what you would think it was like living in a dorm in the 70s. Basic. I don’t think they had AC.

Probably true. When I was at LSU in the 90's our department used 1 for document storage for 3 years before sending to the state archives building and all our room had was a window unit.

Had my graduate student office and lab there in the early 90’s. Pretty rough, but great for tailgating :)

South stadium worked well in 1967 period for engineering students. 2 to a room, common bath down the hall, I was on the second floor.

East stadium, was 4 to a room, north might have been 6-8. West stadium was a barrack not used, for up to 16 per room, rumored.

Meal ticket was good across the street at Hatcher

Mud football on the grassy area south of south stadium was a thing, tackeling was inhibited only by the slippery mud.

It was a good couple years there

I lived in the north stadium first floor for one year
it was wild;especially on game days
also when the residents on the upper floors would light a cherry bomb and throw it in the toliet
goy really hot in the room as well

Lived in South Stadium 1986 and 87. Very Spartan, but allows me to tell the tale of actually living in Tiger Stadium.

I didn't live in them but had friends that did, they were the ghetto of dorms, old, run down, no AC, but known for some absolute wild arse debauchery

All of this, plus many stopped up the drains on the higher levels after games and turned the water on. Impressive water cascade going down the stairs.

I went to a private college of some renown. In the 1950s it had "dorms for gentlemen" where maids would make up your room while you were off at class during the day. Unfortunately this practice had ended by the time I got there. I am just providing this vignette for some contrast. I cannot imagine living in the Stadium Dorms. It must have been like Parris Island minus the drill instructors.

Basically true.
That is how we got the stadium paid for.
Say what you want about Huey, but he made sure LSU got the best of the best of everything back then.
