Did everyone get their Amazon Christmas catalogue yet?

Friends,
A most wonderful thing greeted Mother and me upon our arrival from Pebble Beach: Amazon's Christmas toy catalogue! The last similar catalogue I remember receiving was the one sent by Service Merchandise in 1998. If memory serves me correctly, I made, with help from that catalogue, a Top 10 list which included a Sony Discman, a copy of Plato's complete works, ed. John Cooper, an exercise bike, and a cookie baking set. When we brought our lists to school to share during share time, no one was impressed by my list. Most of the guys in my class listed nothing but 10 Playstation games they wanted.
Amazon's catalogue is not nearly as comprehensive as Service Merchandise's. The intended audience looks to be under 13, but a quick read through shows that Amazon is doing things SM never considered. There are recipes for cookies and hot chocolate (Yes!), a blank list you can fill in your Top 10 gift wishes, a page of stickers, a Christmas tree maze game, and even directions on how to make your own village scene out of old Amazon cardboard boxes. This catalogue is definitely one for the memory box.
Mother and I have already, secretly, begun to retrieve Christmas decorations from our storage unit. Although we will not officially begin decorating until the first Sunday of Advent, do not be surprised if a few Christmas-themed elements appear! It's going to be the greatest Christmas since Jesus was born!!
Yours truly,
TulaneLSU

Friend,
We are in the process of moving. I hope we will be able to have the Christmas tree up by November 1st to enjoy a proper, lengthy Christmas season.

To me, people who refer to their mother as mother give off a creepy Norman Bates vibe to me.

Yup! My 5 year old already marked all of the Scooby Doo toys for her list.
Other than Sears, what was the other Christmas catalog that came out in the 80s and all of the toys were really expensive?
ETA: I remember. Spiegel

I believe the proper conditions have not been met to qualify for a front day this year yet

It's pretty awesome. Watching the kids tear through it with a pen, circling all kinds of shite Santa won't bring them really brought me back.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but its a holiday wishbook. No Christmas mentioned.

Yep my kids put a mark next to essentially every item in the damn thing.

After many years of going to garage sales, I’ve only come across a handful of vintage Sears Christmas catalogs. There was nothing better (other than Christmas morning) than flipping through that book, circling the things you wanted Santa to bring you.
