You seem like you don't get out much.

Homeschooling today is not like homeschooling twenty or thirty years ago. Homeschooled kids now have coops, internet lectures, more choices in curriculum, sports teams, and a generally more social childhood experience than what I observed when I was younger. It's not just the weird people living on a farm sixty people from civilization anymore.

You probably couldn’t look Scruffy in the eyes while typing this.

How did your 12th grade macaroni art project go?

Does your in office employer not use a proxy to monitor how much time you spend bitching on TD about anybody doing anything from home other than sleeping and making babies?

Homeschooling is trending with competitive youth athletics with the rise of NIL. I guess the mindset is 3 hours of actual bookwork and the rest consist of training. European soccer clubs already do this with their youth players as well as the top juijitsu academies worldwide, Not everyone can afford 80k year IMG academy. I overheard a group of parents discussing a remote teacher/tutor that teaches a lot of elementary age athletes. Age of NIL.

Nah, my ex sends my 11 year old to private school at $11k a year so she can get in an extra dance practice on Fridays after lunch.

High school should be three years, max. The fourth year is just a subsidized dating service.

Why do I need to go to class all week when I can get all my assignments done in 3 hours?

Parents that WFH are totally ok with this concept for their kids? That’s what I thought.

We’re not even counting all the 30 year old men out there in their pajamas on a Tuesday battling low T and other health issues because their not acting like men!

Tech has been doing WFH in jobs long before COVID.

Sorry you’re too shitty of a manager to figure it out.

Homeschooled kids now have coops,

They had that several decades ago. I know 3 people in their late 30s that were homeschooled in the greater New Orleans area. None of them were schooled at their actual house, they went to a house with a handful of other kids were there learning under the same curriculum.

I'm based in a large metro 5 hours away. I WFH.

I work with 0 people in that metro.

I work with folks primarily in Ohio, Arizona, DC, and Utah.
I handle 0 pieces of paper.
I have calls with clients all over the country.

Why in the world do I need to be in a cubicle to be seen by a partner I don't even work with.

Why do LSU football players need to be in Baton Rouge. I mean, they can do all their workouts from home and communicate with their teammates remotely. Just show up for the game is that’s even necessary.

Nothing is lost, right?

How you plan on being partner fully remote unless you’re willing to travel all the time?

If you don’t see the problem with your analogy, then maybe walk to the next deep fryer and ask your coworker to explain it to you.

It’s no secret the popular opinion of most is kids lack social and other developmental skills by never interacting with other kids their age. Same can be said when applying the impatience and selfishness of an only child.

Same can be said for adults esp young adults who never go to an office. You don’t learn the three Cs (communication, coordination, collaboration) and don’t get the career development needed to warrant higher level promotions. It’s that simple.

We don’t hire you to ‘do your job’. We hire you to be part of the company.

You don’t get promoted by simply getting your job done. You get groomed and promoted within a company culture learned through the three Cs and by bring more to the table than ‘I did my job’ so gimme this.

Let that sink in. You want to be homeschooled or do you want to grow with a team?

All of this is bullshite corporate speak.

Company goals: maximize profits

Employee goals: pay bills, blow money, retire

You been tricked into thinking your company cares about any of the bullshite you typed out.

I have 0 desire to be a partner at a large accounting firm.

I'm pretty ambivalent when it comes to my career overall, but right now my plan is to make it to manager and find an industry role.

Also, if for some reason I stumble my way to senior manager/director/partner, I like traveling and my wife can come with me. We don't have kids.

I do not like accounting. I do not like auditing. I am good at it and I see no reason, barring a layoff, I can't make it to manager and find a remote role elsewhere.
