All this does is open the door to bitching about excused absences.
Jaideterria had the Taco Bell diarrhea last week and could not come. You can’t refuse to give her the $100 she is entitled to just because she had a serious health condition! Blee dat!

Agreed. This is the kind of community support I can get behind. Let’s reach these youth.

Take that money and build reform schools/military academies. Get busted for truancy 10 times and ship them off to reform school.

I mean if it is offsetting city resources outside of school then maybe it is a net win. A reduction in one public government job could be $100,000. That is paying for 25 kids to have perfect attendance in highschool all year.

This is a win win for Democrat voters.
Another grift off the tax payer (majority of them don't pay taxes) AND you get to pay students while literally making them dumber.
Evil geniuses if you ask me.

This is like the Joe's Crab Shack, "Free Crab Tomorrow" sign. They can offer it because they know they will never have to pay up.

Rather than cash, maybe a savings account?
Either way, why are taxpayers paying for this?

Hate to out myself as an academic dork, but I would have been like Tony Montana using a bill counter if they paid me $50 a week for middle school through HS.

The kids skipping this much school are ones you don't want to be at school. I guarantee classrooms are easier to manage when those kids aren't there.

Don't forget the ISD needs the kids in school for budget purposes. This isn't them giving a shite about those lost kids. This about the head count to get their money.
