Don't have a fear of heights
Be able to stand and move about freely while trying to stand at many different angles
Be able to handle all weather conditions.

I did it in my teens.

Hot as hell. Start early, break from 11-2. Come back and work until dark (in the heat of Summer).

Shingle bundles are heavy.

Roofs are steep these days.

Best advice in this thread. An old couch cushion is your life preserver on a shingle roof. I never go on my roof without one.
