I've spent the night in a tent.

It didn't make the news

Are they also going to live in a jungle in Africa and hunt for their food with a spear to experience that as well to see what life was like before their ancestors were brought here? Or does that not serve their agenda?

They can always go check out Africa. Maybe reenact their people committing genocide just because you are a different tribe.

From the article.

quote:

Joseph McGill, who began the project to emphasize the history of slaves and has stayed overnight in slave dwellings about 200 times, told the AP it’s “totally different” to have direct descendants participating.

“It’s making that connection,” he said. “It’s rare that African Americans can make those connections to the place where their ancestors were enslaved.… They still have to get over the anxiety of visiting the place where their ancestors were enslaved.”

Wilson said she is part of the sixth generation of Kofi and Sally and that her story gives her “a different level of appreciation for the journey my parents and their parents took, and the vision they had to lead themselves from that to where I sit.”

“I have an immense gratitude and appreciation for that,” she added.

How about we take them at their word until they prove otherwise. This is connecting with their history personal history. The statement by the descendant quoted seems to be celebratory of an American success story - from an ancestor being a slave to descendants being successful enough to afford to travel cross country to a family reunion.

I'd suggest more like tenth or more, given the life expectancy of folks in the 1800s and early 1900s.

And this "journey" should have started where it really started.

Trying to stir shite and make the liberals cry a little more. I’m a descendant of an African slave and I’m not bothered the least bit about slavery.

Good point.

Well they can use me to show people how they use to treat slaves born with disabilities. I can play dead really good.

I agree. It’s not economically feasible, plus it would be a never-ending shakedown.

But that doesn’t stop the ever-pandering politicians from keeping the subject alive.

Holocaust reenactments are usually done in late Fall.

Heck of a lot better than living under the interstate with nothing for shelter - not even a tent.

I get this. As a black male I have had zero interest in anything plantation related especially when it comes to the former slave plantations. It is not a fun thought for me. Even when I hear about weddings at these places I cringe.

The only time I've ever been to one is when i got stuck chaperoning a field trip to one. It was interesting to hear the white guide explain how much the slaves loved their master. Me and the one black kid on the trip just gave each other a look.

So, I think it is okay to just take this thing at face value. The drum that white posters like to beat on this site until it comes to black people.

Just for the record I'm not a sensitive man by any means and have zero interest in reparations. I would just ask anyone who has a problem with this to keep the same attitude about civil war reenactments, statues, Confederate flags, etc. etc.
