To learn more about their family history? Why not. You can’t change the circumstances, but I would bet that they won’t argue how good life is for them compared to their ancestors. The founder of the Slave Dwelling movement was set to pounce on a local plantation tour of homes a couple years ago. When he got here, he found that the properties weren’t hiding the fact they had slaves and had preserved a lot of their history. He had a good time and wrote about it.

Must be looking for some inspiration.

On a serious note, my paternal grandfather is one of 13 kids. They often go to the old children's home in which the youngest 9 were raised. I've been as well. It's kind of cool if you're into your ancestry and family history.

However, I'm not sure why it's considered newsworthy.
